I suppose that at least once in your life, you have imagined yourself as a character in your favourite fandom. I'll admit; I have done that as well, especially given the active imagination I have ever since I was a child. Looking back at those memories, I can't help but cringe. I know you do too, or you will.
You might have once imagined yourself like all those isekai characters given with such great power once transported to another realm. You could imagine yourself fighting alongside with the main character, over-powered as it is. I could give you one tip regarding that – don't.
Let's face the facts, there's no way you would suddenly turn as athletic as an Olympics gold-medallist in an instant. It's impossible for you to turn to Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee in a blink of an eye. So those images in your mind would be nothing but your imagination, a fleeting dream.
Sadly...
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" Running away for my dear life, I continued to cry out. I know this scene is rather familiar (you can refer to the fourth chapter of this story), but trust me – this time, it's definitely a huge monster the size of a truck.
"Stop moving around too much, Onee-san! Aniki's having a hard time catching the demon!" Dororo called out from above a tall tree, holding one of Hyakkimaru's prosthetic arms as the raven-haired male had one of his swords unsheathed, chasing the huge bear-like creature with unwavering resolute.
"Do you really expect me to stay still and be monster bait?!" I screamed, on the verge of losing it. Oh God, what did I do to deserve this... "Just so you know, I would have stayed still and dodged swiftly in the last minute like a motherfucking boss if I can!"
"Well, it wasn't our fault that the demon likes you so much." The child remarked quite more apathetically than she should have. I'm on the verge of death here just so everyone knows!
I swear, if we switch positions, she wouldn't be as calm.
"Just help me out of here! I'm too young to die!" I cried quite pathetically, as I would say. Honestly, my legs were on the verge of giving out for running around the last couple of minutes. Luckily, the adrenaline of fear I had rushing through my veins had helped me increase my speed – which roughly translates to, I'm barely surviving this shit.
Oh, right. Have I ever mentioned that, as ironic as it is with the previous sentence in mind, I'm not quite the most fortunate person out there? Well, the sole reason for that, now of all times did I have to let my clumsiness take over and bumped like an idiot on a tree trunk which had resulted to a bleeding nose and a bruised forehead. I might as well get devoured by this monster if this carries on.
"Aniki! Onee-san is an idiot and needs saving!" Dororo shouted frantically. Although, I doubt she had to say the first part.
With a click of his tongue, Hyakkimaru launched himself to the monstrous creature before sending a great deal of damage on the demon's torso a slice of his sword. In a fleeted motion, the black-haired teen grabbed my waist with his sheathed arm, carrying like I was a sack of some sort before launching himself on top of a tree branch – where it was free from the demon's reach.
I had to cover my ears when the ayakashi released a loud howl of pain before running off, likely to recover from its fatal injuries. I heard Hyakkimaru release a growl of frustration as he wasn't able to do anything but watch the creature run off.
As he shot his gaze towards me, I felt fear consuming me. It was as if he was staring at me with detestation. I was rather used to seeing the usual stoic demeanour he was holding, in result, I felt ill at ease seeing Hyakkimaru lose composure.
