Part III: The Parting

1 Day before chaos

(Y/N) POV

I slowly open my eyes and looks down to see my body bandaged up

Mom: "You're awake! I'm so glad you're alive my baby boy!"

She was about to hug me until she remembered my condition.

Mom: "Cowgirl is just about to leave right now..."

(Y/N): "What?" I say dryly

I use grandpa's cane that he gave me as his parting away gift to support me and get out of bed.

My mom's eyes shot up as she tried to get me back in bed

Mom: "Sweetie! You're too hurt to be moving around! Stay in bed!"

I ignored her as I started walking out the door to see my brother arguing with Cowgirl. My sister was already there to take my brother away. I grab him by the ear as I slowly walk to Cowgirl and her parents.

(Y/N): "Wait"

Cowgirl and her parents stop and turn around. They all had shocked expressions on their faces as they saw me bandaged up and hardly able to keep myself up. I let go of my little brother, tossing him towards Cowgirl. He turns his back on Cowgirl and looks at me his face still puffy from crying.

(Y/N): "Say sorry..." I say coldly

Chibi Slayer: "NO!"

I try to raise my fist but lowers it because of the pain

(Y/N): "Say it or I'll make you..."

He then stomps his foot

Chibi Slayer: "Why do I have to say sorry when she's the one that broke our promise!"

(Y/N): "You think she's doing this on purpose?!"

I trudge towards Cowgirl and ruffles her hair

(Y/N): "Don't forget about us, ok?" I say with a light smile.

She hugs me softly and starts crying. I look at Chibi Slayer and he comes and joins the hug crying too. They say sorry between sobs and we watch as Cowgirl leaves.

Chibi Slayer looks at the ground before muttering 

Chibi Slayer: "I hate you...why does everyone leave..."

He then runs back home. I sigh and was about to walk home until a hand is on my shoulder.

Cowgirl's dad: "I'm sorry...I was wrong about you...thank you" he says the last part tearing up.

Cowgirl's mom: "We heard the whole story...thank you for protecting our precious daughter..." she says with a teary eyed smile. I nod and then start walking home.

(Time skip noon)

We are all at the table eating lunch before my brother speaks up

Chibi Slayer: "Big brother... does it hurt..."

My mom was about to say something but I stopped her

(Y/N): "It does...but it was worth it..."

He looks down, not wanting to look at me

Chibi Slayer: "Sorry..."

(Y/N): "It could be worse. I could've gotten an arrow to the knee"

We both start laughing as my mom and sister shake their heads

Sister: "You're unbelievable."

(Y/N): "What? I thought laughter was the best medicine."

Mom: "And so is rest young man."

(Y/N): "Ok mom, can you help me sis?"

Sister: "Sure"

(Time skip)

I'm in bed and my sister hands me a healing potion.

Sister: "Here, it'll help with the pain."

(Y/N): "Thanks sis" I chug the thing down and gag

(Y/N): "BLEH!! That's disgusting, you would think they would make these taste better."

My sister just stares at me

(Y/N): "What?"

Sister: "Are you still gonna deny that you like Cowgirl?"

(Y/N): "Not this again..."

Sister: "You risked your life for her for crying out loud"

(Y/N): "I would've done that for anyone...and besides it's not like she's coming back...I'm tired now..."

Sister: "Alright...goodnight (Y/N)..."

(Y/N): "Goodnight..."
