"No Banner, only Hulk!"
I had heard of Bruce's disappearance. We thought he was dead. We thought...
There he was, though. Well, not really. The Hulk had taken over. I wondered if Banner even knew.
I watched Thor getting his ass kicked, managing to get a few hits in on the big guy.
"Did you cut his hair?" I mumbled, looking over to the Grand Master. He grinned, not taking his eyes off of his champion, my friend.
"Looks great, doesn't it?" I raised an eyebrow, and couldn't help but agree.
"He does look hot," I muttered, more to myself. I never thought of Thor as more than just a best friend, and with Loki rapidly filling all my empty spaces as far as emotions, a haircut certainly wouldn't change that. In my periferals, I saw both men give me looks, then look back to the battle.
Eventually, Thor managed to steal the Hulks large hammer. Having the advantage with such weapons, Thor managed to hit the Hulk pretty hard, and the Grand Master let out a "what?"
It grew quiet as Thor slowly walked toward the Hulk and, as he held out his hand I found myself mumbling the words we had all used.
"The sun's getting real low, big guy."
Loki looked to me and I met his gaze, worried.
Thor's hand brushed the Hulk's, but I saw no signs of Banner coming. It was obvious that the Hulk was going to pull something. Thor was smiling stupidly, thinking he had calmed the Hulk down.
Suddenly, Thor was snatched up in a large green fist and swing around like a rag doll, hitting the floor again and again as the Hulk swing him by his ankles. He threw Thor across the room, who landed with a thud.
The Hulk began cheering, as did the mischievous idiot beside me.
"YES!" Loki stood, fist pumping, "That's how it feels!" He shouted, pointing toward the arena. I began tugging on his blue clothing and he turned toward a stunned and confused Grand Master.
"Loki," I whispered accusingly.
"I'm just a huge fan of the sport." Loki told the Grand Master, who looked back to his cheering champion with a grin and laugh. I rolled my eyes and watched Thor get up. They began fighting again, Thor getting some good hits in with the hammer. I tapped my knees anxiously. I saw the Grand Master growing antsy as well. The Hulk then got a hit in on Thor, who ended up on his back, the Hulk straddling his as he relentlessly punched him in the face.
"Come on, Thor," I whispered, leaning forward in my seat.
I saw blue sparks begin making their way through Thor's body, and with a crack of Thunder and lightning, Thor punched the big guy off of him, sending him across the arena. I couldn't help but cringe for my big green friend as well.
Both men stood, Thor crackling. They ran toward each other and jumped, meeting in the middle in the air as Thor landed a punch to Hulk's jaw. I heard the crowd begin to chant.
"Thunder, thunder, thunder," I couldn't help but give a small smile. We were getting it of here.
Both men stood face to face, and Thor began marching to the Hulk until, suddenly, he stopped and dropped to the floor, looking like he was having a seizure. I jumped up from the seat.
"What?" I whispered, but I quickly realized what had happened as I looked to Loki, whose gaze was on the Grand Master. The man held a small device in his hand and, at Loki's torn expression, I knew he had cheated.
I wanted to confront him, but when I opened my mouth Loki just pulled me down into his side.
I stormed through the halls, Loki by my side. Let me tell you, my face was warm and my fuse was blown. The second we got to Loki's room, I turned around and pointed a finger in his face.
"How could you just sit there silently? We were just about to get off this planet and he cheated so Thor would have to stay and his reputation wouldn't be ruined!" I shouted, temporarily stunning Loki.
"I-I'm sorry, Cain, I--" I cut him off.
"You still want to stay, don't you?" I laughed incredulously at his guilty expression, "Loki, are you fucking kidding me? Look around! This is not where we belong--"
"Where do we belong then, Cain?!" He threw his hands up, and for the first time I realized it wasn't just the safety and possible rank of the planet that Loki was here for.
Loki was sure that his planet was going to die, and that there was no stopping it. So naturally he was already feeling like he didn't belong. Of course he wasn't in a hurry to get home anyway, because he would be punished on Asgard for his crimes, but for some reason I always assumed Thor, Loki, and I would just go to Earth.
But of course Loki couldn't go to Earth. He would be locked away for his crimes committed against New York City.
"Oh," I whispered. How could I have been so thoughtless? He was scared and he had no where to go that felt safe for him. Maybe, even, he was worried that he would lose me now that I wasn't stuck here.
The raven haired man didn't look at me, his face and posture guarded. I slowly walked to him, reaching a hand out and gently guiding his face toward mine. He gave me that look.
Soft, scared, hopeful, passionate. God, that look killed me. It melted everything inside me and I could feel my heart beating. The thumping rapidly picked up in my chest as I realized I scared, hopeful, passionate, and sensitive for him, too.
"I love you," I whispered, fervently attaching his lips to mine before he had the chance to comprehend what I said. I wasn't usually one to show my feelings first.
It seemed to register what I had said, because a moment into the kiss his hands found their way to my hair and he held me closer to him, if it was possible.
After a moment, we pulled away, slowly, and I cringed mentally at the thought of facing the consequences for what I had just admitted. However, my fear resolved as Loki looked at me. This time, it wasn't "you're my best friend," that he confessed.
"I love you, Little Cain."
