A Single Sorry

A single sorry
could have fixed everything
But you were cold and proud
You remained silent
and
allowed the coldness
of yourself
freeze the burning hope
within my heart.

You let it freeze until
it breaks down to thousand little pieces
Bruised, shattered and pained.

Only then
you scoop the tiny pieces of crystals that look like tears
with your hands
Trying to stick everything together
like how it was before
But it's too late, you are too late.

A single sorry could have melt the stone-piled wall I built between us
But you've never said it.

A single sorry is all I needed
It would have been enough to patch up the things that got broken
To mend the bruise
you inflicted me
To stitch the
scraped fragile string
we had for each other
back to its perfection.

A single sorry could have fixed everything

I waited but it never came.
Now it's too late.
You are too late.
