After the bath, a meal, a surprisingly calm grooming and trim up, Spitfire, for his rambunctious attitude, was now sleeping in a nice, cozy kennel until he was house broken.

"Well, one good deed done today." Clairmont sat a few feet away from me on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate in hand.

"Gave a puppy a home." I looked at Spitfire in his kennel, who was all tuckered out, snoozing happily with a small stuffed bear.

"Indeed we did. How's your head?" I shrugged.

"Still hurts a bit but it's getting better." I wrapped my blanket around myself tighter. I went back for a CT and MRI again next week to see if I was well enough to return to duty, then again in another two weeks to drive.

After finishing my mug of hot chocolate, I had dozed off on the couch, only to be woken up by the sound of someone clearing their throat.

Then I had realized, he fell asleep, too. And we were in a very questionable situation.

And then I realized who was standing there.

Chief Gunner.

"Shit, Chief Gunner." I untangled myself and hit the floor.

"Is there something I need to know, Romera?" He asked sternly.

"No, sir! I swear, I just fell asleep!" I was in total deep shit now. "Before Johnson retired-"

"I know what Johnson did, and he's been gone for months. But that's not why I'm here." He dropped it. "I've gotten some concerning statements and complaints from anonymous people that you have been acting brash, repulsive, and manipulative. I'm only here to investigate." I rolled my eyes. I know exactly who they came from.

"Those would be from some of his office workers, wouldn't they?" He didn't answer. "Brash and repulsive? A little strong-worded for 'doing my job,' isn't it?"

"Romera-"

"And manipulative? Really? How have I manipulated people in the past before?" I crossed my arms. "I haven't been to the office in near two weeks. Please, tell me when these reports came in."

"I cannot give you that information." I scoffed.

"That's bullshit and you know it."

"June 18th."

"The day two employees were thrown out for fraternizing and having sex in the office, strictly against the rules of the company, in the contract they signed." I pointed out. "They got belligerent and I had to escort them off property with two other guards behind me."

"Some of the other females came forward and said you made remarks about them..."

"I'm straight as a board." I said flatly.

"Then why are they making these reports, Romera?"

"Because, they see her as a threat. Now, the question is, why are you in my house?" Mega shit. Now Clairmont was awake.

"I'm on Patrol 16 tonight. You're my first stop and I needed to make sure nothing was going on between my officer and client, and make sure my other officers aren't slacking off."

"I respect you, Chief Gunner, but next time, call before you come in. There's nothing going on between us, and no thanks to Johnson for trying to play Cupid, but it's time for you to go." I was holding my breath at this point. When Gunner left, Clairmont did something I wasn't expecting.

"I'm sorry. I didn't realize I had... well..."

"No, no..." I rubbed my face. "I probably should go to bed." I quickly made him drop the subject.

"Ditto." He sighed, grabbing his phone. I grabbed mine as well, and went off to my room.

Finally cleared for duty and driving again, I was called to the office for my company. Usually, I wasn't nervous.

I was nervous as all hell today.

When I stepped into Gunner's office, he had my file on his desk, and a sheet on top.

"You're letting me go?"

Cliffhanger! Haha haha! I managed to finish this because I'm at a boring standing post today and there's few employees here. So, CLIFFHANGER!

Next update: TBD. Begging and crying for it delays it! Remember folks, nobody likes a beggar!
