chapter twenty six: interception of the russians

"we've got our first sentence." robin told steve and rebecca.

"oh, seriously?" steve asked her.

"yeah." robin replied.

"what is it?" rebecca asked her.

"the week is long." robin said in a russian accent.

"well, that's thrilling." steve said.

"i know. but, progress." robin said before closing the window.

rebecca was helping steve out with the costumers.

rebecca turned and saw max and el were waiting for ice cream.

"okay, here you go, you got strawberry and then vanilla with sprinkles, extra whipped cream." steve said passing them their ice cream.

"thanks." they both said.

"wait a second. are you even allowed to be here?" steve asked eleven which made her and max laugh.

"no, she's not." rebecca said before the two girls ran away.

"that... okay." steve said before turning to look back at rebecca.

"el better hope our dad doesn't find out about this." rebecca said with a laugh.

rebecca wasn't going to rat her sister out, she trusted max to watch after her.

once it came time to close, robin had finally translated it.

"the weeks is long, the silver cat feeds, when blue meets yellow in the west." they all read.

they still hadn't finished the whole recording but it was progress.

"i mean, it just... it just can't be right." steve said closing the gate of the store.

"it's right." robin said.

"honestly, i think it's great news." dustin said.

"how is this great news? i mean, so much for being american heroes. it's total nonsense." steve said lacing his fingers with rebecca's.

"it's not nonsense. it's too specific. it's obviously a code." dustin said.

"what do you mean, a code?" steve asked him.
