The sound of her voice filled my mind. She kept repeating the same words over and over again. The words she said to me the moment everything changed

"the portal to the other world silly"

We were looking everywhere at this point. I had no idea where this portal could be. My belief in Nixie had started to fade away. Maybe she was wrong About Noen.

We continued to look for a room or a door that had looked remotely suspect. All the doors we had seen so far just looked like a regular door but maybe that was the point. I decided it would be smart to start opening doors. Nixie noticed and started doing the same thing. I heard a door creaking. Which all the other doors hadn't done. I turned around to look at Nixie

"I think it's down here," Nixie said pointing towards stairs that looked like they went on forever.

"maybe," I said "there's only one what to find out"

Distracting Noen had been the easiest part of our plan. Our whole plan had been pretty easy. At least that's how it seemed at the time.

At this point, I hadn't really thought of the true seriousness of the situation but it had all started to become more real when I saw the stairs. What would happen? Where exactly would we end up? How would my mother feel? Will we ever come back?

My heart started racing I became worried, really worried.

We began walking down the never-ending stairs. My legs had already become tired as I started hearing birds sing. One bird few up, then another and, then another until birds began surrounding us with there beautiful songs. Nixie and I looked at each other and began running down the stairs. The birds were a telltale sign that we were in the right place. What house had birds at the bottom of a never-ending staircase. I mean Noen was rich but not even rich people had that many birds.

We both stopped at the same time. The sight that had been in front of me was beautiful. Beautiful birds flew in the sky. Tall green trees filled the area. Amazing flowers covered the floor. I had never seen anything so beautiful. The place had looked like it was filled with love and effort.

But then my eyes came in contact with the portals. I had expected the portal to be a glowing circle but instead, I ended up with a stone square covered in moss. Not only one through two portals that sat right next to each other. The portals were on a wall at the end of a long path. Everything was real.

"wow," Nixie said

"I know" I responded

We both began walking down the path. My eyes wandered everywhere. From the birds to the flowers to the ground. It had been distracting me from the feeling of my sick stomach and my light head. I wondered if Nixie felt the same way but the giant smile on her face had already told me the answer.

"This is it," Nixie said when we reach the stone wall

"Yup," I said scratching my neck and looking into her eyes

"then let's go," she said as she tried to climb up to the portal

"w-w-wait," I said I didn't want her to know truly how scared I really was. I could let her know. "I mean we don't have to rush we still have time you know"

"Erina are you scared?" she asked as she raised one eyebrow

"no no no," I said shaking my head

"then let's go," she said as she grabbed the bottom of the portal and pushed herself up.

I began to do the same. My knees hit the edges of cold stone and I pushed myself in. It had looked like a small space but I was also small so I fit in pretty well. I sat there thinking of every single way I could get out of this. It had seemed like there was no answer to that question.
