*This one is a bit short. TW: mentions of miscarriage.*

"I can't believe we are leaving. We have so many memories inside this apartment." I say, looking at Crís who looks like he's about to cry.
"Yeah. But we are gonna make more memories." Crís smiles at me before giving me a quick kiss.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Did we have to come back?" I ask, looking out the window of the plane.
"Yep. Sadly vacation must come to an end." Cris laughs, lacing his fingers with mine.
"The town car is picking us up right?" I ask, gathering my things as the plane begins to descend.
"Yep, should already be there." Cris replies.
"Good. I'm ready for a nap, in a bed." I laugh, unfastening my seatbelt after we were parked and given the okay.
"Me too." Cris yawns, grabbing mine and his carry-on bags and leading me toward the exit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Are you guys coming to dinner tonight?" Emily asks over the phone.
"Can we reschedule for tomorrow? We are both really tired and a bit jet lagged." Cris says, laying in bed.
"That's fine. Let's say 5pm tomorrow. You guys get some rest." Emily replies.
"That works. See you guys tomorrow."
"I'm so tired." I groan, rolling over in bed.
"Can't sleep?" Crís asks.
"No. I don't feel well."
"You haven't been recently. Maybe you just ate something bad and it's working it way through your body."
"Maybe so. If I don't feel better by Monday I'm going to make an appointment."
"Sounds like a plan." Crís says, rubbing my back. "Try to get a little sleep."
"I'm going to try." I reply, curling into his side and drifting off into a restless sleep.
"Cris. Wake up." I shake him.
"No." He groans, rolling away from me.
"Cris, please."
"Why?" He groans, opening his eyes.
"I'm bleeding and it hurts really bad. Doesn't feel like my period at all."
"What?" He asks confused.
"Look." I groan, a sharp pain hitting me before I pull the blanket back.
"Oh god." Cris yells, jumping out of bed. "Are you okay? What's happening? Oh god, what do we do?"
"Crís, will you just take me to the hospital."
"Yes!" Cris says, pulling on a pair of pants.
"You're gonna have to help me up." I groan, holding my abdomen through a rough cramp.
"Let go." He says, pulling me up and helping me into the shower to rinse the blood off. After I'm dressed in clean clothes we head to the hospital.
"Crís." I say as he's driving.
"Yeah?" Cris asks, concern lacing his voice.
"What if it's something bad?" I ask, my voice shaking.
"I'm sure you're fine. Maybe your period is just being weird or something." Cris says, whether he's trying to convince me or himself I'm not sure.
"Maybe."
~~~~~~~~~
"Alright, Mrs. Galindo. We got your test results back and I am sorry to inform you, you are having a miscarriage."
"Miscarriage? I didn't even know I was pregnant."
"It was probably early in the pregnancy. There isn't much we can do at this point in time."
"Did I do something wrong? Is this my fault?"
"These things just happen. Most of the time there is no reason, it just happens. Don't blame yourself. You did nothing wrong."
"Thank you, Doctor." I say, looking down at my lap, finally letting the tears slip out.
"Baby, it's alright." Cris says, pulling me into him.
"I should've known." I sob into his chest.
"Sometimes it takes a while before you find out. It'll be okay. We can always try again when we are actually ready for kids."
"Yeah. Can you go see when I can leave?"
"Of course." Cris says walking out. The flood gates open leaving me a sobbing mess, aching for the child I didn't even know existed.
