mackenzie higgins was your average 13 year old, other than having no mom and a dad who still acted like a teenager. it was just her and her dad, marcus higgins for as long as she could remember, no memories of who her mother was and if she was even in her life at all when she was younger. she never asked though, she knew the answer wasn't going to be what she wanted to hear, for now her imagination could pretend her mother was an angel in the sky watching down on her. marcus higgins was more than her dad, he was more her best friend. never punishing the girl, letting her do what she wants (within reason), and basically being both parents for the girl. for a man so immature she sure was raised well.

his thirteen year old daughter was also his best friend as sad as it sounds, most days he would bring women home and it became like a game to mackenzie when she would rate the women coming in and out her home, this depending on if these random women even acknowledged her presence in the house or if they were rude, or snook out at silly hours in the morning. as sad as it was she had a notepad keeping tab, none of them looking like they were going to stick around to be a mother figure. the rest of his time was spent either with his daughter or at the automobile repair shop he worked at, and he wouldn't have it any other way.

sometimes marcus wished that mackenzie's mother stuck around but she didn't. he didn't even know she was pregnant until he had a call telling him to go to the local bar to pick up "his possesions" only to find a baby, a birth certificate and a letter. the woman was obviously not in the right place or mind to keep this baby and he will always be glad she gave mackenzie to him, but he so wished she at least stuck around to be in her daughters life. raising a child was definitely difficult, the sleepless nights, learning how to use formula, teething, walking, talking, her first day of school, puberty, and soon high school. he wouldn't change it for the world though. she was his best friend. he was hers aswell as a ginger cat named star, that she had begged for when she was 11, named after her all time favourite movie the lost boys

ever since the girl could walk and enrol herself into extracurricular she had loved sports. she played as many as she possibly could and that included, soccer, volleyball, swimming, track, you name it she had probably been in a team at one point for it. it's all she really had to do with herself in new england at her age. a major outdoors child who could barely be seen inside unless it was to watch movies or play with her cat. obsessed with any animals she can help or see, many birds helped or squirrels over the years due the heart of mackenzie higgins.
