Carol stared up at the dorm buildimg waiting patiently for her guide to lead her to her new room. It seemed like an ordinary building from the outside but you could hear faint music being played through speakers and the occasional raised voice. Carol was sure she was in the right place.

She was nervous to say the least. Carol knew joining a new college half way through the year would be difficult but considering the circumstances it was easier than staying at her previous college.

"Hey!" A cheerful voice sang behind her. "Carol Danvers?"

"Yeah?" Carol responded. An excited girl appeared by her side and extended her hand. Carol shook it politely.

"I'm Kara, welcome to Mar-Vell college!" She declared, spreading her arms wide to motion to the campus. Carol couldn't help but smile at the smaller girl's energy.

"Thanks." She said smiling.

"I'm so sorry I'm late. I just came from our latest football game. Go vikings!" She cheered. "We won of course. Our team is amazing, you should go along some time. I'll go with you!" She exclaimed.

This girl is a lot. Carol thought. With that Kara stepped forward towards the plain building and motioned for Carol to follow. She skimmed down a list on her neatly put together clipboard and stopped at Carol's name.

"So you're upstairs and you'll be sharing a room with...oh Valkyrie." Carol scanned Kara's face and couldn't tell if she was feeling pity or envy towards her.

"You know her?" Carol asked nervously.

"Pft yeah, most people do. For a freshman she certainly made a reputation for herself." Carol nodded her head slowly wanted to know more. "She's captain of the football team and she's pretty committed. I doubt you'll see her much." Kara concluded. Carol didn't ask any more about her even though she wanted to. She decided she'd make her own opinion about Valkyrie.

As the pair started walking up the stairs Kara asked Carol about her courses and where she was from but Carol was only paying half attention. She wanted to meet Valkyrie. A lot.

"Here we are!" Kara declared as she got a key out from under her clipboard and unlocked the door.

The room was dramatically divided into two parts down the middle with a sizeable window down the centre. Her side was plain. There was no decoration or items on her bed or around it which Carol appreciated. A fresh, white bed cover was neatly folded on her own bed that had a small nightstand next to it with a lamp. There was also a chest of draws towards the door that matched the wooden bed.

Valkyrie's side mirrored her own in terms if furniture positioning but everything else was the complete opposite. Posters of famous female football players were plastered around the wall, combined with band posters such as Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy there was barely an inch of the original wall left uncovered.

But the thing that stood out most to Carol that put a smile on her face was the bisexual pride flag wrapped proudly over her bed board. Now she really wanted to meet Valkyrie.

"Yep she's..."

"Expressive." Carol suggested stared at the walls in awe, her eyes drifting towards the flag every few seconds.

"I was gonna say decorative but sure." Carol noticed some of the energy had drained from Kara's voice. She still couldn't tell if it was pity or envy she felt towards her.

Carol gently placed her small grey suitcase at the end of her bed and put her red and blue rucksack on the bed.

"So this is the boring bit where I tell you all the buzzkill rules. Sorry." Kara said. Carol nodded and sat down on the surprisingly comfortable bed.

"No lighting candles or any other flammable objects in the dorm. No form of cooking in the dorm. No decorating the walls with paints, pens, glues or anything that will be difficult to remove." Damm! Carol thought. There goes my decoration ideas. "No more than five people in a dorm room at any one time. No-" Kara was suddenly cut off by someone charging into the room.

"Who the fu-" the girl suddenly stopped herself when her eyes fell on Carol's who was now standing bolt upright with her fists clenched infront of her.

She had wavy, dark brown hair that hung below her shoulders and wore a quickly put together outfit of jeans and a purple top displaying the word Vikings. Her stance seemed defensive at first but loosened after a few seconds. Her face however remained firm but Carol could only see a spark in the smaller girls hazel eyes. Saying she was pretty was an understatement.

"Er hey Valkyrie you did great out there." Kara tried but Valkyrie's gaze was firmly fixed on Carol's.

"This is Carol. She's gonna be your new roommate." Valkyrie's eyes drifted away from Carol's face and looked her up and down.

"Hey." Carol said more confidently than she felt.

"I think you get the gist of the rules so I'll leave you to it. See you around Carol, bye Valkyrie." She said nervously as she backed out of the room closing the door behind her.

Valkyrie's body posture relaxed a lot more once they were alone. She slumped down on her bed and threw her duffel bag down next to it.

"So they gave me another roommate did they?" Valkyrie said leaning against the wall. Carol followed her lead and sat down too, tucking her legs under her. She noticed a visible smile form on Valkyrie's lips when she did this.

"Another?" Valkyrie nodded her head simply and continued to smile. "You don't want a roommate do you?" Carol said and she couldn't help but smile, she had no idea what she was smiling at.

"Depends on the roommate. I think you and I will get on." Carol untucked her legs and leant forward on the edge of the bed.

"But you don't know me."

"I know your type."

"My type." Valkyrie grinned more knowing she'd gotten a reaction from Carol. "What's my type?"

"You don't know? That sounds like a journey of self discovery you should make on your own." Carol leant back against the wall, mirroring Valkyrie deliberately.

"You like to play games don't you?" Carol asked.

"Depends on the person."
