When Grace came out of the shower Saturday wrapped in a towel, I realized how bad she had gotten hurt.

She had bruises and cuts and burns all over her body.

"Oh God." I muttered, looking at her.

"It's not really that bad." Grace said, drying her hair and starting to get dressed.

"It is."

"They don't even really hurt that much anymore."

"It's still bad."

I went over to her and ran my thumb over the cuts.

"It kills me seeing you go through this." I said.

"You don't have to pretend you're not in pain, you know. I'm your girlfriend."

"About that," Grace said. "D- do you still wanna break up?"

"No. No. I don't. Do you?"

"No. I was actually thinking..."

"What?" I asked, slightly nervous.

"...if maybe you'd wanna get married. Not now, just, eventually. Maybe after we graduate."

A smile grew on my face.

"A- are you proposing?"

"Uh I don't have a ring er anything...but yeah, I guess I am." Grace smiled.

"Well then shouldn't you be down on one knee?"

"I'm half naked."

"And?" I smirked.

She rolled her eyes and got down on one knee, holding out a invisible box.

"Page, I've been dating you for 4 years and-"

"No no no, no sappy crap. That's just gonna make me all sappy an' be one of those bitches that starts crying during a proposal."

"Fine. So just streight to the point, then?"

"Yup."

"Page, will you marry me?"

I smiled.

"Hmmmm I don't know..." I joked.

I pulled her up by the hand so she was standing in front of me.

"How about fucking hell yeah."

She put an imaginary ring in my finger and kissed me.

"We telling your dad?" Grace asked.

"Yeah but you should probably finish getting dressed first."

"Yeah."

Once Grace was finished getting dressed, we went out to tell my dad.

"Hey Dad," I started, sitting down with Grace next to my dad. "We have news."

"You're not pregnant, are you?" He joked.

"No. We're engaged." I held up my hand and gestured to the non-existent ring on my finger.

"You are? Since when?"

"Since like 5 minutes ago."

"Why is there not a ring, then?"

"Grace didn't have one."

"Oh."

"Well, congratulations. Have you decided anything yet?"

"What do you mean?"

"Like, who's taking whose last name? When the wedding is gonna be, where, any of that?"
