*One month later*
I played with Grace's hair and she muttered some things that I couldn't hear.

I sighed.

"Baby," I started quietly. "Please wake up. I need you. You've been in a coma for 3 months. It's been 3 months since the last time I've had a conversation with you or heard your laugh or seen you smile."

I sighed again.

"You can't hear me. And if you can, I doubt you can control when you wake up."

"Grace, you know I'm not religious, but, if I have to I will fucking pray for you. I'm not kidding."

Nothing. As expected.

I sighed for what seemed like the millionth time.

"I miss you." I said in a whisper, tears spilling out of my eyes.

"And I can't- I can't lose you. If I lose you, I lose the love of my life."

Grace muttered something that sounded vaguely like "I can't lose you either."

"Did you just-?" I asked in shock.

"Did you just respond?"

And of course she didn't say anything else.

Grace rolled so she was on her side facing me, her arms open wide, practically begging me to curl up in them.

I scooted closer to her and immediately her arms wrapped around me.

I smiled slightly.

"You always know how to make me feel better." I kissed her nose.

I sighed. "Even when you're in a coma."

Grace took a shaky breath and shifted slightly.

I watched, afraid she'd start kicking again.

Her eyes flew open and she took shaky breaths.

I was in shock for a few seconds, but when I comprehended, I basically tackled her.

I hugged her as tightly as possible and kissed all over her face.

She looked disoriented, but laughed nonetheless.

"Oh my God- you have no idea- how happy I am- right now." I said, planting kisses on her lips in between.

I kissed her again.

Grace kissed back passionately.

When we broke apart, I pressed my forehead to hers and smiled, looking into her brown eyes.

I hugged her tightly.

"I love you." I said in a near whisper.

"I love you too." Grace said, her voice shaking.

I pulled back to look at her face.

She was crying.

"Baby, you're okay." I said soothingly, attempting to comfort her.

I got off of her.

Grace sat up and hugged me tightly, sobbing into my shoulder.

"Baby, what's wrong?"

"You- you-" she studdered.

"Hey, it's okay."

"I- I didn't help you, and you- you-"

"What did I do?"

"You killed yourself!"

"And then so did Jane and it was my fault! All my fault!"

"Hey, it's okay. I'm here."

I tightened my grip on her.

"I'm here."
