You leave a small bowl of carrots just beside the entrance to your camp. One should always thank faeries when they help you... And besides, the hounds only like meat, so it should be safe to leave this out. If only you had milk or something to really thank the creature properly.
You think about what you saw in the bush. Such a small creature. Was it what followed you? You curl into your grass roll and let the questions come to a tapered pause as you fall asleep.

Your little legs struggled to keep up the tall person beside you "where are we going?"
"To the park," he tells you.
You take his hand to either slow him down, or speed you up. "I thought mom and dad said it's too cold today."
"Well...it can be our secret." He smiles bopping your nose. You walk, and walk, and walk.
"How much further, it's getting dark."
"Almost-" you blink and the world around you changes "there."
The door, the shed, no. "This isn't the park!"
"No, but it is one of our secrets, isn't it.." he smiles down at you again, the other smile... you hate it.
"No, I don't want to. I'm too tired!" He drags you anyway, closer and closer, the door flies open on its own. You turn your head, kicking and screaming "I don't want to- no! No!"

"NOO!" You scream twisting and bolting up right. You hold the sides of your head, tucking your knees up against your chest. "Please no..." hot tears plop to the dirt below as your body shakes and trembles. Whatever effort had gone into your coping and adjust just flew out the window as your body regains all of it's old tension.
"N-no." You hear a small voice creak out.
"Who's there?!" You snap to look at the small entrance to your base. The same white eyes from before peer back at you, they almost look sad. You watch the green man step slowly toward you.
"No?" It creaks again. The Green Man holds one of your carrot offerings out to you.
You laugh lightly, despite your tears, and take the carrot chunk "thank you.."
It continues to get a little closer, placing their hands against your legs. They grab your still shaking free hand and place it on their head. "Strange little guy, aren't you..." you wipe at your tears. They haven't stopped yet, but it's better than nothing. You let out a shaky breath and rub his little head. "Almost like a kid.." they nuzzle into your leg, trying to comfort you. You hug them back the best you can.
You'd always been told that green men are guardians of the forest, they're dangerous, and deadly. But this little guy? No... he's okay...
You both flinch when you hear the distant howl of one of the hounds. You pat the ground by you "want to stay?" The green man plops down on the spot you patted. Thankfully a square of silk is more than enough blanket to keep him warm.
While you don't sleep for the rest of the night, it's nice to have someone else around.

You watch the sunrise and decide to get to work again on your garden. Your stiff body wobbles up and over to the plant bed. Weeds be gone... sprouts encouraged. "Clusters of crocus...purple and gold..." you mumble-sing to yourself.
Unknown to you, your little green man stretches his wooden limbs and lets out a small yawn. Groggily at first, he trots on over to your little garden to see what you're doing.
"Good morning." You greet, hands still in the dirt. He gives a small chipper wave before returning his attention back to your small plantlings and sprouts. "Do you like them?"
He rubs his hands along the soil before it comes to rest on one of the growths "fr-friend..." he whispers in joyous awe. His little branches seem to make the plant writhe for just a moment before it grows a little bit taller.
"Wow... that's so cool!"
He beams in pride at what he's done before a look of realization washes over him. He hurries over to your bag and pulls out your book "what are you doing?" You ask as he flips to the map, and splatters a leaf print among the trees. "Is that you're home?"
"Home-" He creaks back, giving your arm a quick hug before dashing out of your camp. You rush and manage to just barely see him run into the forest line. "Bye..." That was odd...
