Wei Wuxian was sipping on his tea luxuriously while Young Master Mau*, whose currently panicking, pace back and forth in front of him. Besides him sat Lan Wangji, who just finished sipping his tea and are now closing his eyes, concentrating on listening to whatever is happening on the outside. Seeing how calm and collected Wei Wuxian is, Young Master Mau couldn't help but feel more anxious and ask, "Young Master Wei, is it all right to be calm in this state?"

"Yes, it is all right." Wei Wuxian laughed. Setting down the teacup, he looks at Young Master Mau with a smile. "What is there to be afraid of? Didn't you say this ghoul does not have any arms? What can it do without arms?"

While the two were traveling and resting in Xiying*, a Young Master who learned their identities as cultivators came to ask for help. Turns out, it was just another small case of a household being disturbed by a ghoul.

"But... Last night, he—"

"Relax, here, drink some tea to calm your nerves." Having that said, Young Master Mau calmed down a bit and sat down in his chair. He was still a bit worried but seeing how calm the Young Masters in front of him was, he breath out but immediately breath in when there was a strong noise coming from the outside. Lan Wangji open his eyes and turn to Wei Wuxian, they exchanged glances and Lan Wangji nodded.

"I-Is there something wrong? The noise outside..." Young Master Mau stands up at the sight.

Wei Wuxian, "Hmm, there's not much but I have a few questions that I wish to have answers for."

Young Master Mau, "What is it?"

"Have you seen this ghoul before?"

"Well..." Young Master Mau hesitate. "If recently counts as before?"

"Do you know why this ghoul is attached to your household?"

"That... I am not sure..."

"Young Master Mau, I can't help you if you don't answer me honestly, you don't have much time until that ghoul decides to kick your door and barge in here. Unless that's what you want?"

"No no! Of course no!" Young Master Mau hurried before taking time to reconsider. "Well... Several months ago, I came across this burnt down temple, there was something shiny inside so I decided to go in and take a look. When I came in, no one was present, everything was broken and dusty except for a wooden box with an emerald as a lock. I opened it up and found a light Jade pendant. Since it was just laying inside a wooden box that happens to be in a burnt down temple, I decided to take it home with me."

Wei Wuxian thought he was taking a break of talking so he waited while sipping his tea, but when the silence continues, he couldn't help but look up to look at Young Master Mau. "And then?"

Young Master Mau, "And then? That was it. Is there something else you want to hear?"

Wei Wuxian, "Certainly, yes. Perhaps seeing the ghoul inside the temple? Or when you exited the temple?"

"No such things..." When noises of the doors being slammed, about to be broken in, Young Master Mau silently sigh. "Well, when I was about to go out, the ghoul with no arms came up to me, he didn't attack but he kept on coming closer so I unsheath my sword, and when I did, he immediately back away and disappear. Then a week or two later, he started to come to my house and the rest, you know."

"Act of steal." Lan Wangji finally spoke.

"A-Act of steal? I didn't steal anything."

Wei Wuxian, "Technically, you did. The light Jade pendant wasn't yours and you took it."
