Surprise! I'm not dead yet. I can't thank you enough for the patience, I hope you'll enjoy it, and even more, I hope I'll start updating more regularly. I love you guys.
Stiles didn't even know it was his birthday when his parents woke him up with balloons and a breakfast in bed, including a cupcake with some lit candles on it. He smiled politely as he slowly sat up. His parents sang happy birthday and he smiled awkwardly, tears almost dripping down his cheeks. He closed his eyes, and a few seconds afterwards he opened them and blew the candles.
"Thank you guys." He said as they both congratulated and kissed his temple. "Sorry, but I.. I have to go pee..." he said and hot up carefully got up, not wanting to mess the food up.
"Of course, darling..." Cas said.
After Stiles finished, his parents talked to him a little bit and then let him get ready for his party, cause it was already noon when they woke him up, worried about his sleep schedule and the nightmares that kept him up.
Stiles took a lot of time to shower and get dressed, things getting a little difficult to do at this stage of pregnancy. But he still wanted to do what he could by himself. Getting help for every stupid thing made him feel miserable.
"Well, don't you look handsome." Cas said as Stiles went down the stairs slowly. " Stiles smiled awkwardly.
"Son, do you want us to give you a ride to Lydia's?" Dean asked.
"No thanks, dad. I wanna drive while I still can, if that's okay." Stiles said.
"Of course." Cas said.
"Just be careful. And call us if you need anything. " Dean added.
"Sure." Stiles said and left.
He took the longer way to Lydia, both wanting to drive some more, and not wanting to actually get to this fucking party. At this point, Stiles didn't feel like he had anything to celebrate.
Eventually, he got there, and had to play surprised when the guests said surprise, not yelled, probably afraid to startle the baby or something, as he opened the door. He didn't remember the pack being this big, he felt like he was surrounded by too many people, congratulating him, touching his belly, being happy.
Stiles has never had to fake a smile for this long.
There was one person missing at the party. And Stiles didn't quite know if he wanted him to be there or not.
Stiles sat on the couch when the lights went out, and Lydia came out of the kitchen with a big, fancy cake with lots of candles on it, singing happy birthday along with the other guests.
Lydia put the cake on the table in front of Stiles, slightly smiled and said "make a wish."
Stiles smiled and closed his eyes. He asked for what he asked that morning in his bedroom. For everything to be okay. When he opened his eyes, Derek was in the living room, standing in front of him. For a moment he forgot about the candles, and just stared at him. But then Lydia whispered "Stiles" probably a few times and Stiles blew the candles off. Everyone cheered and someone turned the lights back on. Stiles rubbed his belly. The baby was surprisingly calm that whole time, even with all the music and fuzz around him.
"Presents!" Lydia yelled and everybody sat down.
"Oh no you didn't have to guys.." Stiles said truly, but Lydia just said "nonsense"
Everyone got their turn giving Stiles and the baby gifts, too many gifts, Stiles thought, but it actually made him feel better, thinking about the baby in that adorable batman onesie that had a tiny cloak attached to it. Or those tiny little socks that barely fit Stiles's finger.
Stiles stole some glances towards Derek, and he could tell he was thinking the same thing.
Lydia was last with her present, of course, and of course, she needed to go somewhere else to get it, and of course, it was bigger than herself.
She smiled wildly as she was explaining what it was. "Okay, so this was very hard to get, but totally worth it." She pointed at the pictures on the big box as she continued talking. "So this thing has two straps. One you put on the pregnant belly, and the other on the partner's abdomen. And how it works, is that the one on the pregnant person detects the baby's kicks and movements, and the one on the partner demonstrates them on their belly, so it really feels like the baby's there!"
"Oh, wow." Stiles said, stunned.
"That sounds incredible." Derek said.
"Yeah, that's awesome, thank you Lydia." Stiles added.
A little time went by as the pack chatted and danced, and then Stiles went into the kitchen, to find Scott and Isaac talking with drinks in their hands.
"Hey guys, thanks for the presents."
"Hey, Sti, of course, we love you." Scott answered.
"Very very much." Isaac added.
"Yeah, but, listen, this is too much for me.. I'm gonna go home, rest a little."
"Oh.. are you sure?" Scott asked.
"Yeah. Will you cover for me?" Stiles answered.
"Of course. I'll drop off the gifts at your place later, is that okay?" Scott asked, rubbing Stiles's arm.
"Yeah, thanks man." Stiles said and left.
When he got home, his parents waited outside, probably being in touch with Scott, Stiles thought, and they greeted him, excited.
"How was the party?" Dean asked.
"Great." Stiles answered. "What are you guys doing out here?"
"Well, we wanted to give you your present.." Cas said.
Stiles gave them a suspicious look, and then Dean reached down his pocket and took out a key.
"Oh no.." Stiles said.
His dads turned him around for him to see a brand new black Chevrolet Impala. Stiles stood frozen, amazed.
"Now, before you say anything, this is not a replacement for your jeep, it's just something that would be a little safer for you to drive around with the baby when he's here." Cas said.
"Guys.. I.. I don't know what to say.. this is amazing, thank you so much." Stiles said and then hugged both of his parents.
Later that evening, Scott dropped off Stiles' presents from the party, as promised, and as Stiles went over them again, he noticed one present he didn't see at the party. There was a note on the wrap that simply said "from Derek"
Stiles carefully unwrapped it to reveal six books inside of it. He went through them, reading the titles, and it didn't take him long to understand that the book Derek bought him the other day at the book store was the first in a series. And these were all the other books. Stiles smiled and put them on the nightstand next to his bed.
That night was the first night in a long time that Stiles didn't cry himself to sleep. He felt like if there's werewolves in the world, maybe wishes could come true sometimes.
