Paityn got woken up at 6 a.m. by her brother calling her. She groggily woke up answering.

"Burkhardt." She said.

"Hey, sis. We gotta call. How's your ankle?" He asked.

"Painful. Where is this call? I'll be right there." She said standing up wincing at her leg as she took a spare brace and put it on her leg covering it with her pant leg. He told her the location and she grabbed her gun putting it in her holster walking out to her car.

"Okay. I'll see you soon. Love you." She said. She could practically hear the smile on his face when he said 'I love you too.'

Paityn arrived at the scene and she got out. Thankfully she had taken ibuprofen so her leg was hurting a lot less. She was just glad it wasn't broken.

"Burkhardt number 2," Wu said smirking. "Welcome to the party." He said. She laughed a bit.

"What did I miss?" She asked. Wu started walking with her over to Hank.

"Hey! How are you doing?" Hank asked.

"Oh gosh, people. I'm fine. My ankle is just a bit bruised." She laughed. "What do we got?"

"The driver of the car is Leroy Kent. Says he's driving home from work drives onto the bridge, sees the victim running. She runs right in front of his car. Says it happened so fast he couldn't do anything." Hank said.

"Did we get an I.D. on the victim?" She asked.

"No wallet, no purse. Looks like she just got out of bed." Hank said.

"Well, Mr. Kent have anything to drink?" Nick asked walking beside them.

"He's had a couple but he's under the limit," Hank said.

"Any witnesses? Please tell me for the love of God that there was." Paityn said.

"Well, the driver said there was one other guy. Told him to call 911, but he didn't stick around. I got guys out doing a canvass now." Hank said. They neared the ambulance.

"Mr. Kent?" Nick asked. He looked at them with a tired look, as if he had been questioned all morning.

"How are you feeling?" Paityn asked.

"Is she dead?" The man asked. Hank and Nick nodded sadly while Paityn gave him a sympathetic smile. "At first I, I thought she might be okay. I mean the guy said she was still breathing." He said nervously.

"This the guy who told you to call 911?" Hank asked.

"Yes. I, I ran over there as soon as it happened. And he just walked up." He said.

"Do you have any idea where he went?" Paityn asked.

"I don't know. I, I called 911. I looked back and he was gone." He said.

"Any idea what he looked like?" Paityn asked.

"Not really no." He took a deep breath. "I was pretty shaken up and I, I was paying attention to her." He said almost breaking down.

"We're done." Said a woman walking over. "You guys wanna take a look?" She asked.

"Yeah," Nick said.

"I'm gonna head back to the station. I'll get working on maybe trying to view security footage." Paityn said heading back. Nick looked at her and hugged her suddenly and she hugged back gently. "I'll be safe. Promise." She said. He nodded and let go of her going with Hank as they went to go check out the body.
