A soulmate AU (kinda??)

Stephen's P.O.V.

"Tony, I don't know..." I looked at the vehicle.

He'd just bought me a new car. Why? I have no idea.

I haven't driven for years. I have no use for it. I mean, I can make portals to anyywhere in the universe- why would I need a car?

"Just one drive? We don't even have to leave the driveway!" He pleas.

"Tony, love, I would. It just brings back memories of.." I lift up my trembling hands.

"Look," He says taking my hands, "Everything will be okay. This is the safest car on the planet. I've made my own adjustments to it to make sure of that."

"I- still. What if- What if something happens?"

"Nothing will happen. Nothing."

"Bu-"

"Nothing bad will happen you. I will not let anything happen to you. You will be okay, I swear on my life."

I smile and nod. "Okay."

We get in the car and I try to get comfortable. The steering wheel feels so odd in my hands. Tony gets in the passenger seat and we look at eachother.

"Just the driveway." He assures me.

"Just the driveway." I repeat.

"Okay, Fri? You there?" Tony says.

"Always." The A.I. says.

"You put Friday in?" Stephen asks.

"Yeah. I mean, If you ever want to drive, you may need someone to help you. Or talk to." Tony shrugs.

"Aww, that's amazing." We share a brief hug.

"Okay, ready?"

I nod. I turn on the car.

I'm so terrified. The last time I drived, I crashed. I destroyed my life.

My hear is beating so fast. I feel like I can't breathe.

Oh god, I'm suffocating in my own fear.

I feel a hand on my shoulder. I jump a little.

He holds my hand, and I hold his. We stare at our matching times stuck on our wrist. The moment we met.

"You are okay. I'm here." Tony says.

"I know. I know. I'm good." I say, trying to convince myself.

I start off slow. It scares me when the car moves. But I get used to it.

"Like riding a bike, huh?" Tony smiles.

"Y-yeah. I guess so." I say.

I get to the end of the driveway and stop.
"Remember, we can turn around."

"I wanna go. I wanna try."

I can see Tony smile.

I drive for a bit. It's nice, being able to drive myself.

We get to a red light, and I stop.
