A Royal Ball a Sophitz story

Chapter 10

          Sophie POV

I'm sitting next to one of the fountains when Fitz comes over.

"Hey Sophie, want to dance?" he asks. 

"Sure" I reply, Marella shoving me towards Fitz.

As Fitz leads me towards the dance floor I can feel eyes on me.  I look around and see that Biana, Tam, Marella, Dex, and Keefe were all staring. Along with Fitz parents and half the party. 

"Nervous?" he asks, smiling. 

"A bit, I can't dance"

"I'll teach you" he answers as we reach the dance floor. We don't do anything complicated, just sway.

"Not bad for a newbie"

"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself"

"Oh really?"

"Yep," she said, giggling slightly at his raised eyebrow. 

"I need to talk to you about something"

"What?"

"Just one question"

"Okay, what is it?"

"Have we met before Tuesday?"

"I told you, we haven't met before Tuesday," Sophie said.

"Then how come I can't quite believe you?"

"Because your stubborn" 

"Am not!" 

"Are too"

"Am not"

"Are too"

"Just tell me the truth" he pleaded, with those cute teal eyes, like a baby seal that needed help. 

"Fine, I'll tell you. But it isn't a good idea that we talk about it now."

"Why not?" 

"Too many people, anywhere we can go that people can't eavesdrop?" 

"I have an idea, met me next to the bathrooms and I will show you"

"See you there in 5," she says as the song ends.

"Thank you for this dance," Fitz says, bowing.

"Thank you" Sophie responds, trying to curtsy without falling over. As she walks back to the fountain Biana rushes to her side. 

"So, how did dancing with the crowned prince feel?" 

"Fine, why do you care? It was just a dance." 

"SERIOUSLY?!" Biana screams like she was insane.

"What?"

"Sophie, Fitz likes you," she says like she's talking to a two-year-old. 

"No, he doesn't" 

"Yes he does," Marella says walking over. 

"No, he doesn't. Even if he did, what's your proof?" 

"Easy, 

1. He stared when you first met.

2. He was super excited to meet you.

3. He couldn't stop thinking about you that night.

4. He freaked when Biana told him that he had a crush on you.

5. He got nervous when Keefe said if he did ask you out then Keefe might give it a shot.

Need I go on? Because that was only the first 12 hours!" Marella listed.

"Fine, you made your point. Now can I go to the bathroom?" Sophie asks, partly to meet Fitz and so she doesn't have to listen to this anymore. 

"Go, and make it quick," Biana says.

"Good luck with that. And good luck with finding my shoes!" 

"What do you mean?" she asks. Sophie lifts her dress just enough to show that she was barefoot. 

"SOPHIE!" Biana screams as Sophie runs towards the bathroom.
