A Royal Ball a Sophitz story

Chapter 16

"Wait, what!" Sophie screeched.

"Umm..." They all said in unison.

"Start talking now!" Sophie screamed, getting really scary.

Quickly Linh explained what they have been up to the last few days.

After she finished Sophie didn't look so mad, just disappointment and betrayal.

When she finally spoke she said just...

"Get out"

"Sophie please" Biana pleated.

"Out" her voice breaking, tears brimming her eyes.

    Time skip

Sophie hasn't left Havenfield since the flop sleepover.

Marella, Dex, Biana, and Tam have all tried, even Keefe, but she refused to talk with anyone. Even Fitz tried after they caught him up on what happened. But he was met with Grady's furry.

Now is Linh's turn. Hopefully, Sophie will let her in.

"Sophie, can we talk?" Linh asked through Sophie's door.

"Go away"

"Please, let me explain"

"What is there to explain?"

"Can we at least talk?"

"No"

"You can't push everyone away forever"

"Watch me"

"Please, we have been through so much. Don't give up now"

"Okay" Linh could barely hear Sophie, but it was enough.

Sophie was curled up on the window ledge clutching a book.

"Get it over with"

"Come on Soph"

"You guys spied on me! I trusted you!"

"I know, but we were worried. We didn't know what to do. I'm so sorry"

"Sorry doesn't change the fact that you betrayed me!"

"I did try to get them to find out a different way but... you know how Biana and Tam get when they have a plan, and how protective Dex gets."

"I know," Sophie said, looking deflated.

"We've been through so much, do you really want all of that to go to waste because of a stupid mistake?"

"No"

"So, do you forgive us?"

"I guess," Sophie said quietly. Linh beamed.

"Great! Now start talking" Linh said, sitting next to her.

"Where do you want to start?"

"The start, I want the whole story"

Sophie explained that she and Fitz had met before but wouldn't say how. After Linh gave up on finding out more about how they originally met Sophie started telling her about the Ball. Then Saturday and the day before.

"Wow" was all she could say.

"Yep," Sophie said, grinning slightly.

"What are you two going to do now?

"We don't know"

"You should talk to Fitz's parents"

"Eventually, but we both are a little scared about what will happen"

"Both?" Linh asked eyebrow raised.

"Fine, mainly me. It's bad enough that my parents found out, and you saw in person how they felt about it"

True, Linh was there when Biana explained what happened between them all. Grady looked murderous exactly who is uncertain. Edaline went super sappy, eyebrows raised and knowing looks.

"Ya, I thought Grady was going to kill Fitz" They laughed.

"I think that would have happened anyway"

"Remember when we brought you home four years ago and your leg was severely broken. I thought that he would kill me and Tam!"

"The looks we got over the years! One time I got caught sneaking back home, I thought Sandor would lock my door and windows closed!" They said in-between laughs.

"Good times, driving our loved ones crazy and almost dieing"

"Good times! Let's go, I need to get away for a while."

"Atlantis?"

"Shure"

They spent the night talking about the old days fighting the Neverseen and how things have changed. Eating ice-cream and talking about how messed up their lives still were.

It was almost midnight by the time she got home. Welcomed by Edaline waiting for her on Sophie's bed.

Oh no.

"Hey Soph, I thought we could talk"

This is bad, very bad

"About?" Sophie asked, worried and a little scared.

Edaline raised her eyebrow and gave her a knowing smile.

Sophie groaned.
