Just Hold Me [ merlin x arthur ]

1 - the reunion

it'd of been months , years even , since merlin let arthur go . since camelot did . he'd never forget holding the blonde in his arms , watching as his breathing slowed , feeling his heartbeat stop . as he'd be broken til this day . possibly more than anyone else , as he missed him more than anything .

there wasn't a single day where the blonde wouldn't cross merlin's mind , he felt as if he'd of lost a part of him . the other side of the coin .

as it's dawn , the sun rays shine through his window onto his face , he opens his eyes with a sigh , groggily getting up as he throws on a fresh pair of clothes , followed by his boots before he makes his way downstairs , to grab his scarf && jacket .

a frown falls to giaus' face , taking his glasses off " . . and where do you think your going , boy ? "
" same as usual - " merlin responds under his breath , as his hand reaches for the handle
" it's been three years , merlin , move on . "
" and do what ? " he raises his brows , looking over his shoulder " there's nothing else left for me , giaus — but only respect . . "
" merlin — "
" destiny ? what destiny ?! he's gone ! i'd rather starve - " he says before finally leaving . as he slams the door behind him .

the old man knew he was sensitive about it all . he saw the way he used to look at the king , as it was perhaps love . . in ones eyes , but merlin wasn't himself . only becoming scrawnier , day by day , possibly that his , what felt like son would soon leave him . . sure he was worried , but he'd let the boy do as he pleased .

merlin makes it to the lake , just like he did everyday , kneeling down by the water , placing a single flower atop , watching as it floats , letting out a sigh , simply dropping his head . " . . i miss you , sire — "

crack — his head snaps back up , looking behind him , frowning && quickly standing up . " . . hello ? i - is someone there ? show yourself - "

silence fell , as merlin's hands ravel into fists , getting ready to use his magic on whatever would come forward , yet , out from behind a tree stood a familiar blonde , , with that same smug grin on his face . " . . didn't think you could get rid of me that easily , did you ? " he sets his hands on his hips , as a tilt fell to his head .

merlin froze . how was this possible — he had to be imaging it — or - something was up . but, tears only pricked his blue hues as he locks them with his own . how'd his ocean eyes sparkle in the light , he knew it was him , as only one in camelot had those eyes .

" a - arthur . . ? "
" hello , merlin — you alright - ? "
" i - i don't - h - how - "
yet the blonde makes his way towards him , as merlin does the same , arthur pulling him into a hug . letting his head rest against his own , merlin's arms slowly clinging onto him . as a grin sat at arthur's face .

" . . it's okay - " he mutters " . . i'm here - " his smile slowly fades , burring his face into his shoulder , merlin doing the same .

his vocals only crack , as his fingers dug into the others shirt" . . c -clotpole — "

" . . yeah , i missed you too — "
