I woke up the next morning at 7:30am. I could hear soft snoring next to me and my head was on someone’s chest. I turned over and saw Ben asleep next to me. How did I get here? I couldn’t really remember what happened last night. I remember coming in here. Oh my god…I quickly lifted the blanket to see if I had pants on. Good, I had pants on. Phew.
I remember lying here, and then I remember falling asleep and he did something…but I can’t remember though. I just sighed and turned over to face Ben. Lately, I have been having lots of nightmares. But last night, there were no nightmares.
Ben gave a quiet yawn and stretched his arms. Looked like he was awake. He opened his eyes and when he saw me, he smiled.
“Morning,” he said. I couldn’t believe that I could barely remember anything last night. All I could definitely remember was coming in here, the rest could have been a dream.
“Did we fall asleep like this?” I asked. He smiled.
“Yeah,” he said. I yawned and stretched my leg.
“What happened?” I asked.
“Can’t you remember?” he asked. I shook my head.
“Nope. All I can remember is coming in here. You didn’t try anything, did you?!” I asked. He cracked up laughing.
“No, of course I didn’t!” he said.
“So, what happened?” I asked. He smiled.
“Well, you have to try and remember that yourself,” he said. I groaned.
“Fi-i-i-ine. So am I off to school today?” I asked.
“No, definitely not. It is way too dangerous now and we have all the stuff we need from there,” he explained. “We can always send in someone else.”
“Yay, no school,” I said with a wink. “But now I have to spend the whole day with Kaine,” I realized. I groaned and flopped my head onto Ben’s chest.
“It’s not too bad. You can either ignore him or talk to him,” Ben said.
“Geez, thanks for narrowing it down,” I said. He gave me a playful pinch.
“Hey, it could be worse. Just say hello and if he wants to talk about what happened, then listen. Take it one step at a time,” said Ben.
“You give pretty good advice,” I said. He laughed.
“I have the wisdom of an owl,” he said in a funny voice. It made me crack up laughing.
“Dude, you’re only one year older than me. So come on, Mr Owl, time to get up,” I said. He gave me puppy dog eyes.
