You closed the door to your room and sank down into your knees. You hugged them tightly as the tears eventually got to you. You stood up and took the knife out of your table.
You only had it for protection but you were just too overwhelmed about what happened. You took the knife and put it to your arm, hesitating for a second. You shook your head and rubbed the back of your neck with your empty hand.
"Cmon Y/N... it can't be that hard.." You muttered/stammered to yourself, as you looked at your arm.
You sighed and cut the arm. Spots of blood poured from the wound, and it just carried on. But you didn't really take much notice of the physical pain, mostly the emotional pain.
Your parents had just died. Some of the townspeople had found them both impaled by the black rocks that were now invading the small village of Old Corona. The village you lived in. You tried stopping the tears that streamed down your face. They were like a waterfall, never ending.
And you continued to do what you had done with the knife prior to the moment of the silence. You only stopped when a knock was heard at your door.
"Are you okay in there Y/N?" A soft voice answered. It belonged to Varian. The boy next door. You didn't really know him because he always stayed down in his little basement he called a lab.
You sniffled through tears.
"I-I'm fine..." You stammered, pulling on your coat to hide the now blood covered arm.You opened the door. He was holding a plate of sandwiches. Ham sandwiches to be precise. He placed them down.
"You're not okay, are you? I'm sorry about your parents," he said, holding out his arms. Subconsciously you moved closer to him, and eventually he pulled you close and hugged.
"My dad's offered to take you in, if you like," he said. "He asked around and no one else would take you in. What do you say?" He asked.
You nodded through the tears and a slight twinge of pain made you wince. The boy looked down at you.
"Are you hurt?" He asked, confused as to why you winced. You quickly shook your head. Maybe a bit too much because now he knew you were lying.
"Take off your coat and let me see your arm," he said. You listened and pulled it off, showing him your arm. He looked at the cuts.
"Did you do this?" He asked, looking up at you. You could only nod in response. Your face was red and clammy from crying too much.
He had you sit down and then came back in with a first aid box a minute later. He took out a damp cloth and started dabbing at the wounds, trying to clean most of it away so you wouldn't lose more blood.
He eventually finished. You had been wincing occasionally.
"Thanks," you said, starting to get up. He pulled you back down with your other arm.
"Gotta bandage it first, don't want you to get an infection,' he said. You sat back down laying your arm on the table. He produced a roll of bandages and started wrapping it around your arm. He was a lot more gentle than he was earlier, so it didn't hurt as much.
He finished and threw away the now bloody cloth and he started putting everything back in the box.
"Thanks," you said. "And sorry. You probably didn't wanna deal with that crap".He shook his head.
"It's completely fine with me," he said. He looked around the room.
"Now, pack everything you need, my dad'll take care of you and we can be best friends!" He exclaimed. You nodded and he left, leaving the sandwiches. You couldn't help but smile. You had someone to care for you. And that was all you needed.
