May Involve Gory Details. Inspired by the song: Wolf Bite by Owl CityIt was a beautiful warm morning. The sun was blaring down on Old Corona. The night before you swore you kept seeing shadows. Huge shadows. Wolf like shadows.
You were brushing you hair getting ready to meet up with your friend, Varian. Your mother walked in.
"Pack your bags, we're leaving tomorrow morning," she said. You looked up at her.
"But my friends live here, where are we going?" You asked.
"We're moving to the kingdom," she said. "It's safer there, you can still see him,".You rubbed your arm and nodded as she left the room, leaving a suitcase on your bed. You got up, deciding to pack everything. You eventually got all the things you needed packed neatly inside and you left to see Varian.
You knocked on his door smiling. Quirin opened up before looking at Varian's room.
"Varian, your friend is here!" He exclaimed. You heard the boy shout okay back. You looked at him."So, sir, have you found out anything about the thing terrorising the town?" You asked, rubbing your arm. You hoped he'd say yes, because you really didn't want to leave.
To your surprise, he nodded.
"I found out it comes every night. And I believe that it's a werewolf, not a wolf", he said. You nodded.
"Are you gonna catch it tonight?" You asked, your fingers crossed behind your back.He shook his head.
"Not tonight, another night," he said. Varian walked out to you and smiled. You smiled back and hugged him. He chuckled. Quirin smiled.
"Go and play you two," he said. You both got to a hill where you sat down.
"Hey V?" You asked, sitting down. He sat next to you.
"Yes?" He replied, smiling and sitting down too.
"Do you wanna go werewolf hunting tonight?" You asked. He shook his head, which was unusual for him.Instead of questioning it, you nodded and took out some ham sandwiches. Varian sat upright and took one from your hand, devouring it in an instant. You giggled.
Time Skipppp
It was getting near sunset and you had just got to Varian's house. You gave him one last hug before going to your house. You walked into your room and grabbed a few things to help you catch whoever this werewolf was.
Some rope, some meat you got from the fridge, a few glowstick things Varian had given you, and some snacks for yourself. You placed them all in a bag packed away. Your parents were out for work for the whole night so you were free to do what you like.
You looked out at the sky. The moon had already surfaced. You looked over at Varian's house into his room. But he was gone? You always waved to each other before you'd close the curtains. You shrugged and pulled on your coat, fastening it up as far as it could go.
You opened the door. It was freezing. You decided to pull on some gloves and fasten your bag just in case. You looked up and down the empty streets. There was no one in sight, it looked like a wasteland.
You started walking around, taking out the glowstick things and shaking them. They were purple and pink so you'd have to work with it. You walked over to where the sheep pen was to find something horrifying.
Most of the sheep were dead, a few bleeding out. One of them was missing, and you could only tell by the trail of blood leading into the forest. You took a deep breath and followed the path. You had no idea what you were feeling. Probably mostly on the queasy and afraid side.
You eventually got to a clearing, where you saw a wolf, eating the sheep, it's bones and blood layed under it. You backed up, snapping a twig and making the wolf jerk up. It looked at you and facing you.
It's fur was messy, with deep shades of red stained into it's fur. It's eyes were a light beautiful blue. Blood was dripping from its mouth, forming a puddle on the floor.
You held your breath and backed up. Maybe you should have brought a weapon you thought. The wolf stared at you blankly before it started approaching. You let out a squeal before running off. You looked at the rope now hanging out your bag. You took it out.
You looked at the wolf. It had gone back to snacking on the sheep. You had no idea why you were calling it a wolf, because it was obvious it was a werewolf. It was so much bigger and stood on it's back legs.
You quietly creeped behind a tree the werewolf was conveniently near. You took the rope in your hand and clutched it tight. You ran out, managing to wrap it up to the tree and quickly knotting it up before it could get free.
It looked at you afraid and tried getting free. You watched shaking. It growled when you put the glowsticks near to it's face. You looked at it's claws. They weren't really sharp, and the rope was really thick.
You looked up at the horizon. It was nowhere near the morning. You moved the now dead sheep towards the werewolf. That should shut it up for a bit. It stunk of death.
You emptied your bag out, suddenly realising you had put some meat in. You sighed and threw it over to the werewolf too. It gladly stopped yelping and whining and started biting into it.
You layed down onto the floor, pulling your coat over yourself. You took your bag and used it as a pillow, and after some time, you eventually fell to sleep.
Time Skippy
You woke up stretching. You looked over at the tree, expecting to see the wolf still there. But in it's place, was a sleeping Varian. He looked pretty messy. His hair was messier than normal, full of twigs and leaves. His clothes were scratched up in places, but other than that he looked fine.
You walked over to him and started untying the rope. You suddenly saw him move, as he groaned. You moved back a little as he opened his eyes.
"Y/N...?" He asked, rubbing his head, confused.
"Varian? Do you remember what happened last night?" You asked.
He shook his head, sitting up.
"Why am I out here?" He asked. He saw the dead sheep and the meat near him and looked at you.
"Were you using me as bait for that werewolf?!" He exclaimed, outraged. He stood up and looked at you. You shook your head and stood up.
"Varian, no! I don't think you've realised, but you're the werewolf!" You shouted.Maybe you shouted that last part a little too loud, because Quirin came running over. You quickly hid your bag and the stuff you had packed.
"Varian! Are you okay?" He looked at you. "Y/N? What are you doing here? Your parents are packing up," he said. Varian glanced at you.
"Wait... you're leaving..?" He asked, worry in his voice. You rubbed your arm. You were his only proper friend. There weren't any other kids your and his age. There were the younger ones, but none of them took Varian seriously.
Quirin cut in before you could answer.
"She's going because of the werewolf that's running around the town at night, killing all our livestock," he said, in the nicest way possible.Varian only nodded and looked at you.
"Bye, I guess," he said, picking up his shattered goggles and walking off. Quirin followed behind him.You picked up your bag and followed them, not really close to them. Sure enough, you could see your parents placing bags onto a cart. It was hooked up to the horse that belonged to your dad. Next to it were both yours and mum's horses. They were eating some apples.
You sighed and looked over at Varian. He was rubbing his arm and looking at his ripped up gloves. He looked at you before quickly looking away and walking into his house, out of sight. How was he going to get through the nights alone? Only you knew about his condition. And he doesn't even realise he's the werewolf.
You walked over to your parents and they smiled.
"Time to live somewhere safe now kiddo," your dad said, ruffling your hair. You could only smile weakly. There was no way you were gonna like living in the kingdom. The thing that teared you up most inside was that your parents were taking the only friend you had away from you.
You looked at your dad and nodded, as he helped you onto the back of your horse. You stroked her mane and smiled. Little did your parents know, you planned on sneaking out most nights to see and help Varian. He needed the support. And company.
