LORENZO HAD BEEN right; someone did make a move but Liliana didn't actually throw herself at Ryan. She kept her distance, her claws stayed at her side but her venomous mouth – as his best friend called it – wasn't one to keep at bay.

"How's the engagement going? I heard it's still an engagement... And if I remember correctly, the wedding was supposed to be months ago," her eyes held a weird glint in them, her ego shining through them as she glared at the male in front of her.

Ryan wasn't that tall – after all his own fiancé was taller than him by half a head and Lorenzo towered both of them – and when it came to new people, he was extremely quiet which kept his outgoing, spontaneous and overly surprising attitude well hidden. Even Lorenzo, at first, thought that Ryan was a soft, little-spoken guy who looked responsible and every parent's dream son-in-law.

But that wasn't the case.

After so many years of bullying, Ryan had built a few walls around him to protect himself from the outside world. It didn't take long to break them; affection and love were always the answer but it also did get a few reactions from the people around him. Lorenzo had never talked with Amalia about this but considering the fact that they were engaged, he knew she supported him no matter what.

Even though Ryan acted lowkey around others, when it came to his family and friends, he would be quick to take a stance. And even after years of his peers downing him, he had learnt when to stand up for himself. But right then and there, outside of one of San Francisco's fire stations with everyone around them to see him explode, he did just that.

Lorenzo could tell he was angered by her words and even though he didn't know the whole story, he would without a second thought take his friend's side. Even if his girlfriend was on the opposite side.

Ryan sneered, his once friendly and happy face turning upside down into an angry and somewhat terrifying façade. "I don't think I need to explain myself to you, you little backstabbing snake,"

"Creative," Liliana noted, as she mockingly pursed her lips, "But I would really rethink marrying your cheating fiancée. I mean I don't know how you do it, but I would never let myself be with a cheater. How do you know she's not going to do it again?"

Ryan almost threw himself at her but Lorenzo prevented him from doing something he would definitely regret later, "She never cheated, you bitch. You're just making that shit up! She needed a friend and you fucking used her, you cu–"

"Okay there, buddy, relax" Lorenzo squeezed his shoulders to gain his attention, "You don't wanna go there,"

"Oh, trust me, I do. She acted like her friend and then, she made a move on her. Amalia needed a friend; you knew she was in a relationship and you still did what you did. How could you?"

Liliana didn't seem to plan her next words because they tumbled out of her mouth and by her widened eyes and shocked expression, everyone knew she didn't want to actually say that out loud, "I loved her!"
