In the state of Washington, under a near constant cover of clouds and rain, there is a small town named Forks. Population: 3120 people.

Shelley Swan and her twin sister, Bella Swan used to live with their loving, erratic, hair-brained mother and her new husband. Since the couple wanted to go on the road, the twins are going to spend time with their dad, Charlie Swan who lives in Forks. He's the chief of police.

Charlie is currently driving the car. Bella is sitting on the passenger seat as Shelley is sitting on the back seat, scrolling through her Facebook newsfeed.

"Your hair's longer." Dad says to his elder daughter as they cross the damp town.

"I cut it since the last time I saw you." Bella replies.

"Oh, guess it grew out again." Charlie states as they arrive at the same old house. The twins used to spend two weeks here almost every summer. But it's been years.

"How've you been, Shell?" Charlie asks his younger daughter as they get off the vehicle.

"Good, I guess." Shelley shrugs, pocketing her phone. "Kind of missed you though."

"I missed you both too." Charlie smiles. "How's mom?"

"She's fine." She answers, making Charlie nod his head.

Soon, Charlie helps the twins to bring their things upstairs and shows them their new rooms.

"I cleaned some shelves off in the bathroom." He says.

"Oh right. One bathroom."

Shelley hears her sister saying as she enters her room, looking around with interest.

"It's a pretty good working lamp. Sales lady picked out the bed stuff. You like blue, right?" Charlie asks as he enters the room.

"Blue is cool. Thank you, dad." Shelley hugs him with appreciation and he immediately hugs her back.

"Okay. I'll leave, so you can have some rest. Tomorrow is a school day." Charlie says and leaves.

Shelley grimaces at the mention of school. If she hates something the most, it is school and the entire education system and the screwed up subjects.
