When Shuichi dies, Kokichi would suddenly become even more laid-back. Every day, he'd make two plates of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On his way to work, he'd set them on Shu's grave. After leaving work, he'd visit a store Shuichi frequented or the flower store, and buy a small ornament of some kind. He'd leave it next to the gravestone, and go home. Every other night, when the clouds are clear and Kichi can see the stars shining brightly, he'd speak to them as if Shuichi was having a conversation with him right there. He'd tell him all about work, how everyone on Earth is doing, and how he's doing. Afterwards, he'd go silent, listening to the wind and crickets outside, believing that Shuichi was talking to him as well. He'd believe that Shuichi would be talking about his favorite book's plot twists, what heaven was like and how badly he wanted to be by Kokichi's side.
But it's just in his imagination.
