—————1 week later—————

Bucky's POV

I should've known they experimented on her. And I shouldn't have shouted. She can't help what happened, it was all my fault, I just took it out on her. On the bright side, she's an Avenger now. But she still hates me, not like she didn't in the first place, but there we are.

Fury just gave us all a mission. We are going to a HYDRA base to try and get information. It's supposed to be the biggest one we've infiltrated yet. Thank Gods the words were removed or I'd be screwed. Sam was lucky. She didn't know anything other than HYDRA, so she didn't need the words or to have her memory removed.

"You guys know the drill," Steve says. "In and out as quick as possible, get information - Nat and Tony that's your job. Bucky and Sam-,"

"Which one?" Both Sam's day at the same time.

"Barnes."

"Huh?" I say.

"No, not you- You guys know which one. You're both in charge of placing bombs around the base and scout the place for any agents or assets. Sam-," he sighs, "Falcon, you are in the sky with Stark if he's available. Clint, you get to the roof at the first chance you have with Wanda. Banner, unless this gets messy there shouldn't be a code green. You stay in the Quinjet (please correct me if that's wrong) and help whoever gets hurt. I'll stay guarding the entrances and exits. Is everyone clear?"

"Nah, you all look pretty fuzzy to me," Sam (my daughter- Gods this is confusing. Ya know what, Falcon can be Wilson) says. Steve rolls his eyes.

"Suit up," he says unenthusiastically.

—————Time skip—————

Sam's POV

We have just arrived at the base in Alaska. To be fair, it looks like one of the bigger ones. We get in the base and I take a left where as Da- Bucky takes a right. I place bombs and set timers for 30 mins. Quite a few HYDRA agents appear here and there, but nothing I can't handle.

—————Time skip (sorry there's so many)—————

It's been 20 minutes and I've started heading back to the front where Steve is. I notice that everyone is there except Clint and Wanda, who are making their way down now.

"Couldn't find any assets, only agents," Bucky says.

"Damn, you weren't kidding when you said that was the biggest base yet," Tony says, slightly panting.

"Biggest base?" I ask, suddenly realising what that meant.

"Yeah, weren't you listening?" Nat asks. Gods no I wasn't listening, are you crazy? But that means- shit.

"You good? Looks like you've seen a ghost," Falcon says.

"Shit," I say, looking Falcon in the eyes, before running back in the base.

I hear multiple shouts telling me to come back. Obviously I don't listen, I've been an idiot once and I won't do it again.

As I run back inside I search everywhere for a hidden door, a cell, anything. But I can't find a single thing. He has to be here, assets are always kept in the biggest bases.

As I turn another corner, I come face to face with my handler. The man who enjoyed watching me writhe in pain for over a decade.

"I was wondering when you would come back my dear."

In the comms I here everyone shouting at me, saying I only have two minutes left. "As much as I'd love to stay for coffee, I have to ask. Where. Is. Jay?"

"That's no way to treat old friends. I thought I taught you better. Maybe we should teach you again." Before he could even get near me I stab him in the chest.

"Not today," I say dramatically, cracking his neck. 30 seconds.

I realise that I have been down this corridor multiple times already, meaning that there must be a secret door around here somewhere. 25 seconds.

I feel around, pushing and pulling every nook and cranny. 15 seconds.

I finally see the outline of something rectangular. I push as hard as I can. Slowly but surely, the door opens to reveal a little boy, no older than 5, chained to a wall, almost unconscious. "Jay!" I scream. 5 seconds.

I rip his chains off the wall and hold him as tight as I can to my body. 0 seconds. Explosions are heard throughout the building. I can hear the team over the comms screaming my name, Dad's voice cracking constantly. At least I have this precious boy with me.
