Sam's POV

It's been a couple days since Peter has been out of the med bay and he's getting a lot better. But, he still can't go on patrol, which is where I am right now instead of him. I'm a gal of my word.

I'm currently sitting on top of a warehouse, feet dangling of the side of the building, awaiting my next mission. We all decided to take turns doing patrol. Yesterday was Nat and the day before it's was Steve. Peter gave us a device which alerts him of any criminal activity. So far, I've stopped 3 muggings, a bank robbery, and saved a man from a hostage situation. And I've not killed one person (a specific request from peter), so I take that as a win!

It's nearly 11pm, so I was about to head home when the device started beeping again. Oh well, one more can't hurt. I make my way towards a bank where I see about 7-9 people robbing it. Great.

I swoop down with my wings, being as silent as possible. I analyse the situation from behind a car that's parked just outside. 7 people, all men, and 1 hostage. A child. He can't be more than 6 years old. I hear sobbing and I see a young women, who I can only assume is the boy's mother.

I quietly follow the group into the bank. I use my illusions to make myself seem invisible. Yes, it takes a toll on me, considering I already have illusions up, but I still do my best. If it was Jay with the gun to his head, I know that I would go to absolutely all lengths, so why shouldn't I now?

I creep up to the guy nearest to me and prepare to take him down. I move my hand to one side of his face, my head on the other, about to snap his neck. That's when he turned around, grabbing my wrist and harshly attaching some sort of cuff. Oh...

Power dampener. Such fun.

"Ahh, Shadow Assassin! We hoped we would be seeing you," a man who I recognise from HYDRA says. I only then notice all the weapons they have and the HYDRA symbols on their chests. How did I not notice this before? The two men that were nearest to me grab me and force me on my knees.

I then get slapped in the face. "Listen to me when I'm talking to you," the main dude says. Can't remember his name for the life of me. Also, apparently he was talking? Oops.

"Right, of course. My bad. Please continue," I say with a fake cheery smile. This earns me, surprise surprise, another slap! "Also, have me met before? I know you were from HYDRA but- ohhh, wait now I remember! You're the one that gauged my eyes out!"

"Damn right I am," he says- ya know what? Imma start calling him Leader. It's a lot easier. Anyways, he grabs my cheeks and squeezes them, angling my face different directions, probably to see his 'handy work'. "Nice to see it's left a permanent scar." I can hear the sick grin on his face.

"No shit Sherlock. My eyes aren't just gonna grow back are they?" I say to him. If I still had a pair, I'd definitely be rolling them. The next thing I hear is a gun being loaded and fired. Guess who felt a searing pain in their leg? But, this has happened way too many times. I barely flinch at this point. "So, what was your name again?" Ah yes, me and my smart mouth. Always getting us into trouble. He growls at me and punches me in the face and I hear an indefinite crack.

As Leader goes to punch me again, I use all the strength in my left arm to throw the guy in front of me, using him as a human shield. The other guy pulls out a pocket knife and tries to stab, but I support my body with me now-free left hand and use my feet to grab the knife. I am also being shot at by the rest of the men, but that's not important.

Using the knife, I stab the guy (the one who originally held it) in his chest. He collapses on impact, so I assume the blade reached his heart. Leader lunges towards me, with an AXE?! Wait a minute when the hell did that get here?!!
