Steve's POV

Jason managed to track down the base, so we're currently killing any agent on site.

"Stark! Agents are leaving through the back and side doors. We need eyes up above!"

"Wilson and I are on it," seconds later, multiple explosions and bullets are heard. "Clear outside and up here."

"Jay! Find your mom and kill anyone you see," I bark into the comms.

"What do you think I've been doing for the past 10 minutes!"

Once everybody else has their orders, we focus on taking down all the agents and finding Sam. Bucky hasn't been handling it well without her and is raining down hell on them.

"Cap? Is the- um... is it a c-code green?" Banner stutters nervously into the comms.

"No. We need you ready for Sam," I hear him sigh in relief. "She'll most likely be pretty banged up, so be ready."

"Already done."

We continue fighting for another 45 minutes, maybe? We make our way up too is the third and final floor. We have taken out most of the agents, but there's a surprising amount up here. "Cap there's nothing out here. Want us to come in?" Wilson asks. I assess the situation before deciding it's better to be safe than sorry.

"Sure. We're on the third floor, second room to left." I signal for Jay, Bucky, Wanda, Nat and Clint to continue down the corridor. A few moments later Stark and Wilson coming crashing into the room through a hole Tony burnt through the wall. I run out of the room after hearing the others conferring. As I get closer to the voices, I can hear them louder, but I also hear one that I don't recognise. I hold my hand up and the other two with me stop. I listen from the doorway.

"-u really think we were just going to let you take her? Even you, Barnes?" A strong Russian accent echoes throughout the floor. He chuckles slightly, "I thought you knew us better." Before another word is said, Stark reveals himself and starts blasting all the targets.

I come out from behind the doorframe and analyse the room and its contents. I then see Sam, all four limbs stretched in such a way that looks like it's adding physical height to her. I hear something dripping, a leak maybe?

Bucky rushes forward and tries to rip out the chains from the wall. Key word: tries. "Move!" Peter shouts- wait, Peter?

He rips the chains and frees Sam, Bucky catching her falling body before it hits the ground. He holds her for a second before removing his hands, confused.

Bucky's POV

I hug Sam when I feel something sticky on her back. I also feel an irregular shape by her lower spine. I slowly look down, and nearly vomit. "BANNER! BANNER SHE NEEDS IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION!"

"I'm ready for her! Bring her quick!" Stark grabs her out of my hands and I allow him, knowing that he doesn't mean to harm her. I see her eyes shoot open as he holds her bridle style and Sam screams. It's the most horrific, blood-curdling scream I have ever heard.

I watch them fly out of the hole in the wall again, before sprinting out of the room as quick as I can.

Bruce's POV

I watch as Tony brings Sam towards me, flying at full speed. I could hear her scream for where I am in the quinjet.

I hear her sobbing as they get nearer and Tony's attempts to calm her. I quickly grab a gurney as they approach. I notice the blood dripping from her back and her discomfort as Tony carries her. "Put her on her stomach! On her stomach!"

Tony puts her down and I finally see the wound. And it's bad. Blood is oozing from a wound in her lower back. It's jagged and deep. Like really deep. I immediately get to work as the others slowly start filing in. Bucky is the first, then Jay. "Will she make it?" They both ask frantic variations of the question.

"I don't think the wound is fatal, however it may cause some problems in the future," I say sadly. I realise that there is nothing I can do right now without my equipment. "I can't do anything here. We need to get back, now." It's safe to say we were leaving very soon. On the journey, I call Dr. Cho and ask her to bring the cradle.

—————Time skip—————

Bucky's POV (sorry for all the POV changes, it will just be for this chapter I swear!)

13 hours. 13 hours. She has been in surgery for 13 hours and no one is allowed to go down to the med bay. No one knows if she is alive, if she is hurt. No one knows anything, and it's agonising.

Bruce finally enters the lounge where we are all sat nervously. I immediately stand, holding Jay close to my chest. I look at him expectantly, praying to any God there may be for good news.

"She's alive," I am immediately relieved slightly. "But," scratch that. Terrified again. "We has to put her in a medically induced coma. It was our only option." He turns to me. "We would've normally asked permission, but, given the circumstances, this was her best bet," I nod understandingly. Tears gathering in my eyes. I feel my chest dampen as Jay buries his head deeper into it. "We are not when, or if she'll wake up. We also do not know the full extent of her injuries. I'm- I'm so sorry," he avoids eye contact with me.

"You did your best," I force a smile, tears now tumbling down my face. "Thank you." I sit back down as Jay sobs. I try to console him, but I'm a mess myself. I look around to see the others all crying as well, some more than others. I look back at Bruce before he leaves the room. "Can we see her?" He turns back with a soft yet sad smile.

"I suggest family only for now."
