{Allison}

'You guys are so adorable together,' Thea sighs when she looks at Asher and me. 'I can't wait until you're getting married and start your own family.'

'We've only been dating for three months now,' I laugh and I take another sip from my drink. We just ordered our food. I hope it arrives fast, so I don't have to have awkward conversations like this.

'We all know you're ending up married,' my mother says. 'You are made for each other.' I glance at Asher for a moment. He clearly feels uncomfortable as well. Our parents don't know what happened between us.

'Let's not rush into things,' Asher mumbles. 'We're taking it slow. There's no need to hurry.'

'Of course not,' Thea says. 'But don't wait too long, otherwise another boy might steal her heart.' I feel my cheeks are getting flushed and I quickly take another sip of my drink to hide it.

'We're only eighteen,' Asher says.

'You know,' my father begins. 'At first I was a bit sceptic about you two dating. I wasn't sure you were going to treat her right. But I'm glad you're in my daughters life. You're perfect for her.' If only he knew...

'I'm trying my best,' Asher says.

'Excuse me,' I say as I stand up. 'I have to go to the bathroom.' Without waiting for an answer I walk away from the table and make my way towards the bathroom.

I couldn't bear to be there for another minute. Our parents think we have the perfect relationship, but we don't. We're everything but perfect. We are a chaotic mess right now. Asher can get really angry and abusive sometimes, and I cheated on him, twice.

'Having a rough time?' I look up from the sink and see a girl walking in.

'Something like that,' I mumble.

'I overheard the conversation at your table,' the girl says. 'You seemed really uncomfortable.'

'I was,' I sigh.

'You know, you don't have to do everything your parents say,' the girl says. 'My parents were like that once. They had my whole life planned out for me, and I lived by their rules. I had the "perfect" boyfriend. But then I went to college and I met a boy there. He was everything my parents had forbidden. At first they weren't happy about it and they almost cut me off. But in the end they came around.'

'Are you still with him?' I ask. The girl smiles sadly and shakes her head.

'Unfortunately not everything lasts,' she says. 'But he gave me the most amazing time. I'm grateful for that.'

'Why did you guys break up?'

'Well, I want to have kids,' she says. 'And he's not quite the type to have children. We found out we weren't as compatible as we thought. So we decided to split up. I still care for him though, very much.' I can see a sadness in her green eyes. She's not over him, at all.

'Maybe you shouldn't have split up,' I say. 'It sounds like he truly made you happy.'

'He did,' she mumbles while tears are forming in her eyes. 'But we can't get back together. I heard he has a new girlfriend.'

'Allison?' I hear a familiar voice say, followed by a soft knock on the door. 'Is everything okay?'

'I'll be back in a minute,' I say to Asher before I turn to the girl again.

'I have to go,' I say to her.

'Yeah, you should.' The girl blinks her tears away.

'Everything will be okay,' I assure her. 'If you guys are truly meant for each other, you will find your wat back.'
