Chapter 62: New Friends

I'm terrified.
I have this sneaky feeling that someone is out to get me.
I know Jonah will just tell me I'm going crazy and I'm just in protective mother mode but...
I'm not so sure.
I lean down and pick up Malik.
It's nice to have a friend while Jonah works.
He told me that if anything happens with Malik to call him.
He squeaks and I hold him close
He's finally quiet after crying all day.
I yawn and hear a slow knock at the door. I gulp and panic, looking through the peep hole.
They're covering it.
Jonah, be on alert.
I tell him as I go to open the door.
I quickly hid Malik in the other room, so he's fine.
Everything okay?
I'm not sure.
I open the door weakly and see a hooded figure standing in front of me.
They pull the hood down and grin
"Nice to meet you Eden!" He grins
I gulp and ball my hand into a fist.
"Who are you?" I snap
"My apologies, Zekil is the name. I've been watching you for awhile now." He doesn't stop smiling
"What the hell! How do you know my name?"
"Like I said, I've been following you, but before you whack my with the fist you've had balled since I opened my mouth, hear me out?" He smirks
"I-"
"I promise you I'm no here to harm your nor your son." He says and I frown
"Fine." I bring him into the living room.
"So, Zekil, start explaining." I snap
"Well to start off, I'm a Wander." He says and I cock my head
"A What?"
"Essentially, people with residual powers of hybrids. I saw you in my travels recently."
"Your travels?"
"We're cursed or blessed to roam these lands forever." He explains
"So how old are you?"
"One hundred and two!" He grins, almost happy I asked
"Anyway you can prove this?"
"Well we all have a mark to show which guild we come from."
He sticks his wrist out and shows me to large black symbol
"Anything else?"
"We're excellent trackers, I know exactly where you son and your mate are right now."
"You stay away from them." I snap and he chuckles
"I promise Eden, I'm not going to hurt any of you."
I pout
"What do you want then Zekil?"
"To help you! Look I know you have that feeling someone is following you."
"Isn't that you?" I pout and he shakes his head.
His dazzling bright aqua eyes piercing my gaze.
"Someone else. Not your brothers and not Jonah's brother."
"How long have you been following me."
"Since you left to see your brothers." He says and I gawk
"Look either way Eden, there's someone watching you. I think they intended to hurt your son."
"M-Malik?" I panic and he nods
"Hey, calm down, they're scared of me. He's safe."
I whimper and he smiles softer
"I can promise you, I'll do my very best to keep him safe."
"Why?" I frown
"You're daughter, Althea, I have a vested interest in her."
"My daughter?" I gawk
"All in good time dear." He smiles
Daughter?
I don't have a daughter!
He just chuckles and looks at me
"Don't act so shocked, my powers are stronger than you think." He smirks
"Daughter?"
"Oh Eden, not for many years." He says sadly, it seems like that hits him in the gut
"Either way, it's my duty to protect you and Malik, and even Jonah." He says and I bite my lip.
I don't see why he would be lying.
"Fine."
"Perfect!" He grins
"All you want from this is?"
"It'll come later, years from now." He breathes, again stabbing him in the gut.
"Alright." I muse and rush to get Malik.
I pick him up and he whimpers, beginning to cry uncontrollably.
Zelik quickly grabs him and I snarl
He just chuckles and holds him tight to his chest.
He rubs Malik's head, muttering under his breath.
"He's sick isn't he?"
I nod sadly and he nods
"I can tell, allow me to help?"
"How so?"
"While my powers are limited, I can help him push this fever off."
"Please." I beg and he nods
"Of course."
He holds Malik tight and continues to mutter, his eyes glow. A faint blue aura surrounds his hands before it stops and Zelik breathes heavily.
"He should begin to feel better, werewolves have weaker minds than demons and angels but still stronger than humans. Either way, his fever should fade tonight."
"Zelik where are you staying?" I frown
"Oh don't worry about me, I will continue to do my job in the shadows." He winks and I smile
"Thank you."
"Thank you for not hitting me like you wanted to." He grins and I bid him farewell,
A daughter...
Malik squeaks once in awhile until Jonah gets home.
I put Malik down for bed after feeding him and he falls asleep easier than before,
Zelik truly is powerful.
I wander back downstairs and I try to calm down.
I hear the door open and I flinch, but calm at the sight of my mate,
"Eden!" He rushes over, locking the door behind him
I hug him tight and he rubs my back
"Hey, Hey," He says as he feels my pounding heart.
"I'm okay." I breathe
"You sure?"
"I just have a lot to catch you up on."
"Oh? What happened princess?" He says,sitting down.
I rest my head on his shoulder, cuddling him close.
"I met a Wander." I muse
"What." He snaps and I pull back
"What?"
"Wanders haven't seen in years! I've been told they like to stay in the shadows."
He bites his lip
"So? Tell me everything."
I explain Zekil to him and he begins to very defensive about me until I mention the daughter part,
"Daughter?" He breathes and I shrug
"I have no idea." I frown and he rubs his head
"You can swear he isn't a threat?"
"He isn't, someone else is."
