believing that your labours will be rewarded

You sacrificed a lot
and placed all of your hopes on it

So did we

You were researching how to get better at it
while everyone was partying

So did we

You slogged day-in and day-out

So did we

You finally showed up for the competition
With loads of hope and faith

So did we

You utterly blew it

And we did too

You blamed it on someone

We let it go

You started to blame each other

We started to console each other

Failure tore you apart

Failure brought us together

And finally you gave up

We DIDN'T.
