"It's my time..." I gently laid back in the grass as I stared up at the moving clouds above me.

The sun gazed down on me as I soaked in the ambience of what was called "the middle place", I knew all to well where I was, because I've been here before.

I heard a faint giggle coming from the far left side of me, so I sat up and looked in that direction.

"Mama?" I questioned with a wide grin.

"Hey baby," she embraced me in a hug and gently kissed my cheek, "I'm worried about you, this isn't the place to be, again." She cupped my face and studied my expressions.

"It's like, something keeps pulling me back to you. I don't want to leave my family down there but, everything all comes back to you Ma." I sniffed and flexed my jaw bones as I looked away from her, not wanting her to see me cry.

"Just because you don't see me everyday, or talk to me everyday doesn't mean I'm not in your life, I'm still watching over my babies, and I'm still with you every step you take, don't give up on them." She whispered.

I took a deep breath and shook my head, I don't think I can keep going through this, or putting Lyric and Monique through this. But then again, what type of man would I be to leave my my girl, my baby and soon to be child all alone in this world.

I made eye contact with my mom as she watched me, giving me the "you know what to do" look.

"Ight ma," I laughed and playfully nudged her, "I'll head back, I was really just waiting to see you."

"Well now you saw me, get on back to my grand babies and daughter in law. Don't come back here okay? Let me visit you sometimes." We shared a laugh and stood up. "I love you son, forever. And even when you think I'm not there, or think you're alone, just know mama's got you."

I engulfed her in a hug and wiped the tears that fell, I kissed her cheek before we departed ways. She disappeared into the foggy distance, and I returned to life...

Beep beep beep beep...

"We have a heart beat!" I heard a female's voice announce.

"Grab the defibrillator and lets not let that heart rate slip again!"

I shot up and looked around the room, "I don't know what a defibrillator is, but I guarantee I don't need it, I'm good. Can I just see my family."

"Well sir, you just woke up from a seven hour coma, with serious injuries, I think it's best if you just rest right now." The lady nurse said with her hand placed on my shoulder.

I looked at her hand, then back to her. She quickly removed it and went back to her clipboard, marking off some things on the paper, and asking me a series of questions.
