chapter 1

Her fingers only just finished pulling her tunic on when the familiar buzz filled her ears. She didn't dare turn around knowing he was there, not fully in the room- but... there.

She felt his eyes dig into the back of her neck as the silence bore on, both of them not wanting to break the silence first.

"nice of you to show up" Rey says in an unsatisfied tone, still not looking up. She heard him snarl under his breath before finally turning to look at him.

His black hair enveloped his face and the scar Rey forced onto his face stood there practically yelling as she remembered that fateful night.

"I have no control over it" he says as he shifts his weight uncomfortably. His hands balled into fists and he stopped himself from looking at the scavengers face. Her hands shook, as she turned back around feeling irritated at his response. Her hair fell to her shoulders before she started to pull it up into her iconic three bun hair style.

He had never seen her with her hair out before, he marvelled at the sight before snapping out of it.

Growing impatient at the sight of him, Rey decided to delve into his mind. Finding with shock that his guard wasn't up. She felt panic in his brain, she saw the face of Hux and one thought He has a plan to over throw me.

"Stop that!" he spits at her as she is pushed out of his mind feeling his guard go up instantly.

"what do you mean he has a plan...to overthrow you?" she says, curiosity burning in her eyes. He walks forward to her, hand hovering over his lightsaber.

"Ben...you don't have to fight alone, join me" Rey says with a calm aura oozing out if her.

"DONT CALL ME THAT, BEN IS DEAD!" he spat viciously at her. His hands shook beneath his cloak and he felt the shock register in Rey's mind.

Shaking her head "no he isn't", "I feel it.. Inside if you...the light, it's still there" she took a step forward reaching for him. She had no idea what she was doing.

"no, I see the darkness in you and I see you joining the first order!" he retaliated back.

"I see we are at an impasse, but if you will not join me then I hope Hux succeeds" she set her chin high in the air with her hands crossed over her chest.

He starts towards her, igniting his red lightsaber watching as she recoils not ready for that reaction. She feels the heat of the saber ready to slice at her skin, waiting...

She looked up and he was no longer there. Breathing heavily she scowled into her arms that covered her face. How come she didn't see that coming? How come she wasn't ready for his attack?

Brushing it off, she stood up and sauntered out of her room, realising she was late to the meeting. She grabbed a peice of fruit at the cafeteria before lightly jogging to the conference room.

She walked into the room and noticed everyone's eyes on her.

"nice of you to join us" general Leia spoke to Rey. She felt her blush creeping up her cheeks as she took a seat next to Poe and Finn- her two best friends.

"why are you late?" Finn whispered harshly to her.

"it's... Complicated" she says back, shutting that conversation down fast. No one knew of her connection with Kylo and she intended on keeping it this way, scared of what people would think.

She sat there looking unamused as her arms fell at her stomach. 5 months. She hadn't seen him for 5 months and he still hadn't changed. Even after she refused to take his hand in the throne room she still felt the light in him. He hated what he did to his dad thinking it would make him stronger, yet she knew he still hadn't changed even though she felt the light within him. Still she hoped...

Her attention was bought back when Leia's voice filled the room.

"thank you all for coming here today, I have an announcement for the resistance. I can feel myself slipping away and I know that the time has come to pass on my authority to someone else" she says looking down at everyone

Rey felt shocked, she had no idea of this, but now her eyes skimmed the room to look at everyone else. Seeing the surprised look on their faces, she came to the conclusion that no one knew of this decision.

"I would like you all in joining me as I welcome the new general. General Poe" she smiles down at him.

Shock registered on his face before he stood up to meet her at the top of the table. Everyone clapped and cheered as the new general took his place. Rey felt her smile radiate, she couldn't think of anyone more deserving. Poe's face fell onto Rey's as he smiled at her. He shook Leia's hand and sat back down. Rey grabbed his hand and gave it a tight squeeze of congratulations before placing her hand back in her lap.

"to reveal this to the rest of the resistance, we shall throw a party welcoming General Poe to the spotlight, it will take place in a week and a half " she said looking around the room.

After everyone gave opinions about the party Leia ushered everyone out catching Rey's hand before she left.

"Rey, I feel a new sense of power rising in the galaxy, which means we need you to train yourself as well as the young ones who possess such powers" she said with a stern look.

Rey looked at her puzzled
"but my- I mean, Luke's lightsaber, it's broken" she says looking up at Leia.

"yes, which is exactly why you will be embarking on a journey to a planet with a specific kyber crystal on it, in hopes that you will create your new saber back on Ahch-To" she hands her a slip of paper with some coordinates on it.

"leave first thing tomorrow and you should finish your saber in 2 days" and with that Leia left Rey standing in the middle of the room alone.

He could sense Hux's alliegance changing. He could feel his rein coming to an end.

The storm troopers all seem like they are following him, the supreme leader yet, Kylo could feel them switching leaders. He felt out of control, he needed something...a plan to defeat Hux. He knew it before he had thought of it. He needed a more powerful saber. He needed a new kyber crystal and he knew exactly where one was.

He would leave first thing in the morning.
