16. Iwaizumi - short ♡

A/N : ok so i ended up making a name for the b/f/n role, the girl's name is going to be zafia just cuz it might seem confusing to some people but yh anyways, on with the story.....

you were sitting outside in the school's backyard on a bench table eating lunch with your best friend zafia and it just so happens that your conversation turned into talking about crushes you both had

"well I've always had a crush on Hajime..." you mumbled to zafia looking down at your food flustering a little bit

you and iwaizumi had been childhood friends and you had always helped and supported him with his volleyball dream, you basically liked him ever since you were both little.

there was a dead silence for five seconds and all of a sudden zafia bursted out laughing

"you mean, hajime iwaizumi?!" zafia just kept on laughing

"hey! why are you laughing?" you looked back up confused at zafia's reaction

"i just imagined in my head both of you as a couple and- isn't he like a whole foot taller than you" zafia laughed between her words

"so what?"you replied blushing a little thinking how iwaizumi is literally a giant when he stands next to you

"you literally have to turn your whole head up when you talk to him" zafia wheezed, this girl would not stop laughing at your height

"oh my god zafia shut up!" you yelled back at her

"he literally has to get onto his KNEES to kiss you!"

"that's it, it's not my fault that i'm so fricking short i blame that on my genetics! and iwaizumi just happens to be taller than me, clearly he also plays volleyball! and i just so happen to be crushing on this guy who is a whole foot taller than me! and if you can't deal with that and just making fun of me for liking iwaizumi then go away!" you snapped at zafia, of course you were joking on the last part where you told her to leave, only people who can take sarcasm would understand

"uhm... (y/n)" zafia sneakily pointed towards you

"he's behind me isn't he?" you whispered to zafia

she slightly nodded

you mentally slap your self in the face and slowly turn around in your seat to look up at the giant himself, iwaizumi

you just gave him a smile to try and cover up what you had just said, you were blushing furiously

"oi zafia, oikawa wants to talk to you" iwaizumi spoke to her

"why me?" she replied in a confused manner

"he didn't tell me, just go over to him" he simply said

what you didn't know is that was a lie he had told zafia, he just wanted to stay with you alone.

now that zafia left it was only the two of you, iwaizumi sat down right next to you turning his head and resting it on the palm of his hand, staring at you

"hey, (y/n) mind helping me after school to practice my spikes?" he tilted his head as his eyes looked deep into you

"oh- yeah sure" you rubbed the back of your neck still with a blush plastered across your face

iwaizumi just sat there and looked at you a little longer until he spoke

"5pm in the school gym"he said pausing once again studying your features

"don't be late, shorty" he raised his hand and scuffled your hair on the top of your head

he then stood up and walked off

you were left there, still blushing like a tomato with your eyes wide open and your mouth slightly parted by the shockingly unpredictable gesture.

TIME SKIP TO 5 PM

You had cleaned up after you mess at the art club which you were a part of, you looked at the clock and saw that it was nearly five already

you quickly picked up your bag and waved to your club mates and started speed running towards the school gym.

out of breath you opened the metal door and stopped for a second to catch your breath

"just in time" you looked up to see iwaizumi taking out the metal cart that had all the volley balls

you started to help with the training, throwing the ball towards him from the side acting as a setter so he could spike and try out new techniques

after a good thirty minutes he took a break, you both walked to get your bottles and finally drank some water, iwaizumi dried the little sweat he had with his towel and threw it back on the bench

"so. iwaizumi are there any other skills you maybe wanted to improve?" you said just staring down at your feet

all of a sudden you felt a warmth wrap around you only to notice iwaizumi was embracing you, you ear pressed up against his chest, you could hear his hear beat and his steady breathing

"haji-" you were cut off by iwaizumi hugging you tighter

"i'm sorry i just can't look at you in the eye right now (y/n)" he replied, you blushed hard and good thing he couldn't see it or you were sure you would of exploded

your arms hugged his back, you lightly grabbed onto his shirt

"i just heard what you said today and i pretended like it was nothing" he continued

"i was embarrassed back there so i acted like i had heard nothing but i honestly do care (y/n), was it true? what you said before?" you could hear his heart beating a little faster now

"i-" you stopped and took a deep breath in

"of course i do hajime, i always have, ever since our childhood" you said with much courage

iwaizumi just stood in a realization that you liked him back, since the longest time he had too but never had to guts to tell you about it, iwaizumi broke out of the embrace and looked down at you slowly reaching out to hold your cheek and lowered down to then place a kiss on your lips, it was soft, you were quick to blush even more with your eyes closed

iwaizumi pulled away from your soft lips and gave you one of his thoughtful stares

"i-i like you too" he had a slight dust of blush on his cheeks, you thought of how adorable he looked, this boy could be so soft at times and it made your heart warm

you just smiled back at him

"how about we head home for the day? you did well today" you spoke

"oh-uhm yeah sure" he sounded motivated

you helped him get all the volleyballs and place them back into the storage room, you then both took your bags and headed out of school

you were heading to the street which lead to your house

"wait (y/n)! i'll walk you home!" you turned to see iwaizumi running towards you and eventually catching up

"it's fine hajime, you don't have to" you assured him

"but i want to" he says, softly grabbing your hand and intertwining it with his

"besides, it's getting dark"

you smiled once again with a blush at his manner and leaned your head on his forearm

"thank you iwa"
