19. Bokuto - notice ♡

You were writing down the last words on your notebook, just as the bell rang

finally it was time for lunch, you took out an apple you packed and looked at the clock placed on top of the blackboard

it was time

you took your bag and shoved your books inside carelessly and headed to the school gymnasium, just like everyday you would stand by the wide open entrance and watch the boys play volley ball, but mostly you were there to look at a boy you had a crush on for a while

'he probably doesn't even know i exist' you sighed at the thought

there was something about the joy and excitement the sport brought to the boy that fascinated you, you really wished you knew him as at least a friend, or be close to him, he has never once noticed you standing and looking almost everyday for the past year, you were so shy that it would sometimes be hard to socialize.

you kept biting on your apple as you watched bokuto perform a beautiful spike getting the point, winning the set he jumped around like a child and screamed his iconic phrase

"HEY HEY HEY! I knew we would win akaashi, my spikes were amazing!" he exclaimed towards his best friend akaashi

"yeah it was amazing bokuto-san" akaashi replied with a straight face, bokuto only getting more excited by the praise

it was only when bokuto walked to get his bottle and you would of never thought that this might happen someday but bokuto switched his glance over to yours

your eyes widened, your heart was pounding

as a quick reaction you turned to be hidden towards the wall outside, you sighed closing your eyes trying to process what happened

when you opened your eyes a person was in front of you, you looked up and it was bokuto with a confused face, you stood in shock once again

"hey are you new around here?" he brought his face closer to examine your face almost as if he was trying to scan it

"uhm- i- n-no" you stuttered, your hands were slightly shaking

"oi bokuto, i think you're scaring the girl" akaashi said standing by the doorway

"oh, haha right, well hello i'm bokuto by the way" he greeted

"and you are?" he said turning his attention back to you

" uhm (y/n)" you mumbled in a shy manner looking down at your feet

"oh wait, (y/n)! the one who is extremely good in geography class!" he exclaimed

"m-me? well i do like geography-" you were cut off by bokuto grabbing your arm and pulling you inside the gym

"come on come inside, we still need to finish practice" he smiled at you, akaashi following behind

"w-why?" you stuttered once again

"you were enjoying watching us right? just come in and watch the rest up close" he fully turned to smile at you and pointing to the bench behind you so you could sit down

for a minute sitting down you were trying to process what happened, bokuto noticed you, he actually noticed you were looking, he even touched your arm but you couldn't get out of your head his bright smile he gave you before, the thought of it made you blush, you looked down fidgeting with your hands

slowly looking back up you saw a stressed bokuto

"akaashi, why didn't you pass it to me?" he whined like a five year old baby

"you were just out of reach for the spike bokuto-san" akaashi replied simply

"what? wait, am i really that bad, i was too far from the net and the setter, how do you even spike a volleyball" every word he said it in a more depressing tone, his shoulders hung down with a dead look on his face.

"here it goes again" haruki said, watching them as he was sat down next to you

"huh, what is it?" you asked confused on what was going on

"bokuto is in his emo mode" he sighed

"he has some extreme mood swings, that boy" haruki continued slightly shaking his head

you giggled a bit at this

akaashi and bokuto made their way towards you as their water bottles where next to you on the bench

"hey (y/n), mind saying anything to cheer bokuto up? i can't seem to be able to do that today, plus you're a girl, bokuto for sure loves even more to be praised by girls" he asked kindly of you to do the favor, you nodded yet your heart pounding with nervousness

bokuto was walking like a dead zombie slowly towards the bench, you took his bottle and walked up to him holding it out to him

he slowly looked up at you

"hey b-bokuto i just wanted to say that you were really cool when you were playing before, i think that you are honestly a-amazing at the sport" you looked at him, you could feel a strong blush on your cheeks

"REALLY?" he jolted up with an excited puppy face almost as if he had an invisible tail wagging violently

"y-yeah, you look really cool when you spike, i mean you are the captain for a reason"

at this his eyes brightened up in a split second, looking at you, taking the bottle you were holding for him

"that right, i am the captain! but..." he stopped looking at you

you tilted your head in confusion

"HOW CAN YOU BE SO FREAKING ADORABLE WHILE YOU SAY THAT (Y/N)-CHAN!" he jumped looking at you in the most childish way possible as if he was looking at you with flowers in his eyes

you blushed even more and looked down

"will you come by more often (y/n)-chan?" he offered with sparkles in his eyes

"y-yeah sure" you rubbed the back of your head giving him a smile

the bell rang, you had to get back to class soon, you walked towards the exist past akaashi

"defenately do come by, i can't be the only one giving mental support to our moody captain" he spoke

you nodded giggling, waving goodbye to the whole team

"see you tomorrow (y/n)-chan!" bokuto screamed after you were out

that nickname made you blush
