It's been nearly two weeks since the final selection. I've been counting down the days for my sword in anticipation. I was told when I chose my ore, that it would take 15 days for my sword to arrive at the manor. Kagaya said he could get it here in 5, but I wanted the same start as everyone else. My uniform had already arrived as well, and I even had a beaded necklace fitted for my crow, who I named Kazumi.
I sit patiently in my wisteria tree in silence. I wanted to check in with Sanemi, see if I made him proud by surviving, but he's away on a mission which is out of my control. That won't make me miss him more or worry any less than I already to. I've spent hours practicing what I would say to him when I see him. 'Welcome back I missed you! Why is your brother such a little bitch?' I chuckle to myself softly. I can already picture the rage on his face and I feel the faintest memory of getting slapped on the back of my head because of my blunt honesty in the past.
"(Y/n), honey. Someone is here to see you." Amane calls from the doorway with an easy smile, "You're not going to want to miss this!"
My eyes widen and I scramble out of the tree, smoothing out my pale violet kimono as I jog towards the manor. As I near the doors, I hear wind chimes and I break into a grin as I see someone in a large hat, a box held closely to his side. On the rim of his hat, small glass wind chimes are placed that sway as he stops by the front door.
"My name is Haganezuka. I am the one that has forged the twin blades that will be used by (y/n) Ubuyashiki." He said calmly as he stands stiffly in the center of the room.
Kagaya winks at me subtly and gestures with his chin for me to speak.
"That would be me! I'm she, please take a seat! I can get you some tea, make yourself at home!" I said, a bit too nervous for my own taste, but the anticipation and excitement is getting to me.
Haganezuka crouched where he stood and opens the box to reveal a bundle of while cloth. "These are nichirin blades. I forged them. The nichirin blades raw materials are iron sand and ore from the highest mountain that is closest to the sun. 'Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand' and 'Scarlet Crimson Ore.' They are metals that have absorbed the sunlight."
"Sir.. Would you like some tea?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. I've never been the patient type, and he is definitely pushing my limits. I have no idea what he's talking about!
He looks up and my eyes widen as I see his face is covered with a Hyottoko mask. "Your eyes.."
"What about them?" I ask suspiciously.
"They're plum coloured." He said plainly. "Like the colour of a demons."
I wince at his words, "they're just eyes. Nothing more."
Haganezuka snorts, "if you say so kid. What colour do you think the swords are going to turn?" He asks me, changing the subject
"Green like the sword my teacher uses I hope." I said with a shrug, catching a slight smirk from Kagaya from my peripheral vision.
"Well, pull it out of the scabbard and lets find out." Kagaya mused with an easy going grin, like he knows something I don't, which is usually the case.
I slide it out of the sheath and hold the blades up to the light, the silver almost instantly becoming a brilliant red colour.
"Red! A red blade!" Haganezuka cheers and tosses his arms into the air. "Hell yeah! Finally!"
"A red blade?" I ask. "What does it mean?"
"Red is usually meant for flame users, but this bright of a colour is good." Kagaya said with a knowing smile. "It means good luck for you, and that you'll be unstoppable in battle."
I grin down at the swords I have in hand and smile at the guards. Solid black circles and engraved in gold, are two wisteria sprigs.
"Haganezuka- san.. Thank you for forging me my swords. I promise I won't break them." I bow my head deeply.
He nods and rests a hand on my head, "it was a pleasure making them. If you do break them, I'll break your legs, understand?"
I blink for a moment before nodding, "..yes sir."
"I have one more trip to make, so I need to get going. Stay safe out there, kid." He snorts as he bows his head and leaves the manor, a few guards escorting him off the property.
I turn towards Kagaya and break into a wide grin, "I'm officially a real demon slayer!"
He smiles back at me and nods, "I know. I'm very proud of you, (y/n)."
I immediately sit up straighter as I hear Kazumi fly into the room like he owns the place. "(Y/n)! Caww!!"
I raise my eyebrow, "yes?"
"Report to the town to the northwest immediately! Young girls are disappearing!" He caws before flying out of the building again.
"I guess thats me." I smile with a shrug. "I'm going to go change and then I'll go deal with that."
Kagaya nods and pats my head, "I know you will. I'll let you know when Shinazugawa returns okay?"
"Okay. I'll see you when I see you then!" I said with a grin as I grab my swords and leave the room. I change into my uniform as quickly as possible and leave the house, swords already strapped to my back in black cloth sheaths.
"(Y/n)!"
I turn on my heel to see Genya's crow flying over the fence as I get to the yard. His feathers are ruffled and he looks frantic.
"Hey, what happened?" I ask as it flutters down onto my outstretched arm.
"Genya's in danger!" He crows looking around.
I nod my head, "okay. Where is he? Can you lead me to him?"
He flies into the air and I keep pace with him as I'm lead to nearby cliffs. As I look over the edge, I see the boy clinging onto the ledge, a clawed hand nearly reaching him from the shadows below.
"Genya! I'm coming to get you!" I call out to him.
He looks up and the panic in his eyes in intense. "Hurry dammit!"
"You know what. I can leave your ass here and I won't turn back." I said loudly with narrowed eyes.
His eyes widen, "no! Shit! Don't leave me here! Please!"
I hold onto my swords tightly and dive down onto a ledge, using the blades to keep me on the cliffs. I repeat this method until I reach Genya. "You're not gonna like this, but I need you to climb onto my back and hold on tight."
"I don't have much of a choice, do i?" He grumbled.
"No. But if you want me to leave you here, that can be arranged." I retort with a roll of my eyes.
He mumbles under his breath as he holds onto my arm. "We should get going now though. This rock isn't gonna hold forever."
I nod, risking a wary glance at the demon's arm below us. There's about an hour until dusk, and that means I have to get us both out of here and quick.
"Climb on or I'll let you get yourself out of here, Genya." I grumble as my hand almost slips from the grip of my swords.
He nods once and maneuvers so he is clinging to my back. "...Don't you dare drop me, Ubuyashiki."
"Don't let go then. Sanemi would kill me if I let you fall." I retort as my grip tightens. I slowly use my swords to pull us up and back onto solid ground but i don't stop until we're a good 20 feet from the edge.
Genya climbs off and as soon as he does, I'm laying in the dirt my arms aching. He sits down next to me after a moment, and sighs. "...thanks for getting me out of there."
I snort as I rest my arm over my face, "..yeah well, I didn't have a choice. Letting you fall would've killed my conscience."
He huffs in annoyance, "bullshit. You would've caught me anyways because of your promise to Nemi."
"Hah, yeah. I guess so." I retort as I sit up. "You shouldn't thank me though, thank your crow. He was the one to come find me."
His crow flutters down from a tree and perches on my arm, his chest puffed out proudly.
"So that stupid bird finally has some use." Genya narrowed his eyes at the bird, who looks deflated.
I swiftly elbow him in the gut. "How dare you. If you don't want him, I'll take him!"
"No, I need it to tell me what jobs to take." Genya grunts as he tries to catch his breath.
"Take care of him." I warn. "Goodbye, Karasuno." I scratch the birds chest with a delicate finger.
"Karasuno?" He asks with a raised eyebrow.
"He needs a name." I roll my eyes and pat Genya's head before I brush off my uniform and start walking away. "Stay out of trouble, moron." After a second I add, "Don't request for my help unless you really need it. But don't hesitate to write."

I continue on my way well into the night until I see the town up ahead.
"Nezuko!"
My eyes widen as i recognized Tanjirou's voice from inside. I instantly begin to run until I jump up and over the large bamboo fence on the towns perimeter, landing in the middle of a stand off between a horned demon, and Tanjirou. Just to my right, I see a girl in pink, her eyes wild and angry.
"This demon has been taking girls hasn't it?" I ask as I draw my swords.
"Yes." Tanjirou said with narrowed eyes. "Make sure the man and woman behind me remain unharmed. I need to get his girl back."
"You got it." I said with narrowed eyes. "Sir, I promise to keep you safe here." My gaze softens slightly when I see the unconscious girl in his arms.
He raises his eyebrow at me in disbelief, "a little thing like you? Shouldn't you be off finding a husband right now?"
I flip one sword behind me only stopping just before his adams apple, "whats that? The sound of me killing a misogynistic pig. Watch your damn mouth when you speak to me, or I'll kill you myself."
He yelps and looks up at me horrified. "I'm sorry miss!"
I snort as I slowly lead him away from the dark mass forming on the ground infront of us. "Damn right you're sorry."
I swing my sword and cut the hand off of the demon that has begun to crawl towards us.
He screeches as he recoils, slowly beginning to grow his hand back, "how dare you?!"
"Give me back the girls and I may just let you live." I lie through my teeth.
The demon lets out a loud laugh like a knife against ceramic. "You think they still live?! They were delicious! And I bet you'll be too!"
"Nah. I'm too bitter to eat." I sneer with narrowed eyes.
"I'll be the judge of that!" He laughs as he crawls closer, the horn on its head clinging in the lantern light.
"Oh yeah? That sounds like a challenge." I smirk at him. "A challenge you can't follow up. You're weak. So weak in fact that you only pray on young girls who can't fight back."
He charges forward swiftly with a hiss. "Oh you just insulted the wrong demon!"
"I didn't realize there was a right demon to insult. You're all pathetic to me." I snort and I swing my swords upwards and to the right with an unmatched speed that makes time seem to slow to a stop. "Breath of Wind, Second style, Claws- Purifying Wind."
The demon's head falls away from its body and turns to ash before it hits the ground.
"Whoa.." The man behind me whispered.
"Tanjirou, you done over there?" I ask with a raised eyebrow, ignoring the man.
He walks over to us, Nezuko following just behind. "Yes. I'll meet you right outside the gates."
"Okay." I turn on my heel and look the man up and down. "Don't underestimate people, got it? Especially not women. We're stronger than you think. And... Don't grieve to hard." Before he can ask me to elaborate, I'm already outside and leaning against the gates by the entrance to the village.
Even from out here, I can here him sobbing once he gets the news. One part of me wants to go back and comfort him, the rest of me wants to curse him for being so weak. People die everyday. He should be numb to it by now like the rest of us. I lean my head back and look up to where the moon seems to rest upon the distant mountains. Even from here, I feel the familiar peace that Kagaya emitted straight from his heart. I let out a soft sigh. I shouldn't be this insensitive towards others suffering, should i? Could it be because I'm used to it? Or is there something deeper at play here?
"Ha... You sound like a weakling. Get your shit together, (y/n).." I whisper to myself.
"Ubuyashiki-san. Are you ready?"
I look up to face Tanjirou, a soft smile on his face. The girl at his side blinks at me with wide eyes nearly the same color as my own.
"This is Nezuko?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
"Yep! This is my little sister!" Tanjirou announced proudly.
I reach out and rest a hand on the top of her head. The innocence in her face reminded me of Kiriya's almost and I get why Tanjirou wants to protect her. I feel an immense amount of heartache from the two of them and it sends a pang of pain straight to my chest. "She's cute." I muse softly.
She blinks at me in response and holds her arms out for a hug. I'm not really much of a touchy person, and a part of me is worried I'll hurt her. So she hugs me, but I don't return the gesture.
"We should see if we can rest here for tonight. I'll pay the compesation, if you want." Tanjirou offered.
Kazumi flies overhead and lands on my shoulder. "Caw! Asakusa, Tokyo! That's your next mission! You too Tanjirou Kamado!"
"Ooh! We're on a joint mission! This will be so cool!" Tanjirou said as he messes with the beads around my crows neck. "Do you know where it is by any chance?"
"Asakusa? I'm familiar with the name, I've read about it on maps before." I retort as I begin to walk down the path. I can feel the buzz of energy and life in the very ground I walk on and that leads us through the forest pathways until we see the city lights ahead.
