I made my way towards the main room and stiffle a laugh when I see the line up. Next to Mitsuri, I'm the only female in the room, and the only one not completely in pink. Every boy is around my age or a little bit over, and their faces are reddened from shame.
Tanjirou smiles and waves me over, his cheerful disposition still completely in tact, "(y/n)! Hey!"
I step away from the door and stride into the room with my head held high, and my loose hair billowing behind me.  Striding over to him, I pop my neck calmly. "Hey, Tanjirou. You look completely ridiculous."
He laughs lightheartedly, "haha, yeah I guess so! But I'm looking forward to the training anyways!"
Mitsuri strode into the room, a record player in hand. "This was very expensive so if you break it, I'll never forgive you."
I've never seen one so close before, only on the inside of store displays. Even with my monthly pay from the corps., I didn't make enough to afford one, let alone the expensive records that it could play.
She started playing some lively recorded music and handed long ribbons to a few of the boys and then one to me as well. "You'll be dancing non-stop to the music, and one by one, I'll bring you over to check your flexibility. If you are to my standards, you can move on to the next location. And (y/n), if the record stops, just flip it and it will play new music."
"Alright." I said with a frown as the people around me began to dance.
Their arms were extended gracefully, and a few of them hopped around with the steady beat of the song, but their legs were all incredibly stiff. I had attended several dances when I was young and impressionable with Kagaya and his family, so I'm not completely lost in the dark without a lantern.
Tanjirou shrugged at me and began spinning around the room with his leg extended gracefully.
When I stood still with my arms crossed, Mitsuri approached me. "Hey. I know you can dance, (y/n). Think of it as a challenge. If you complete my training before 3 days time, I'll treat you to some ohagi."
I let out a reluctant sigh and rubbed the back of my neck. "Yeah yeah, okay. All the ohagi I can eat."
I waited for the beat to drop in the music before I started dancing. I spun around gracefully, my arms extended over my head, before I started using the ribbons.
Tanjirou grinned at me and sent me a thumbs up, "I didn't know you could dance!"
"Yeah well, forget about it. Because it isn't happening again." I huffed in annoyance, dancing circles around some of the other boys for several minutes.
"Hey." One of the boys turns to me, sweat dripping down his chin. "You're a girl, so I'm gonna warn you. Flexibility training is hell."
"Oh? How so?" I askes with narrowed eyes, falling into step near him.
He glances towards Mitsuri before averting his gaze. "She's a monster, man. She uses all her strength to stretch our joints." He extends a hand towards me, "I'm Hiro by the way. Takami Hiro."
"Ubuyashiki." I greeted him, shaking his hand lightly.
"So. What breath do you use?" He asked trying to keep a conversation going.
"Wind." I said calmly. "And Breath of the Moon."
His brown eyes widen, "two?"
"Yeah." I shrugged, my annoyance towards him surging. Against my internal control, I allowed my eyes to glow faintly, causing him to yelp and trip. "And I'm seeing someone. So stay away from me."
"(Y/n)- Chan! Are you causing trouble over there?" Mitsuri beckoned me with a finger.
"Perhaps." I retorted calmly. "He was bugging me, and if I wanted to be bugged, I'd go down to the swamp and let myself get eaten by mosquitos."
She chuckles lightly before stretching out my arms, "you're always so prickly!"
"Yeah well, people are always so annoying." I snided. "So, people were complaining that this flexibility stuff you do is ruthless."
She pouted, "aw.."
"Nah, that's a good thing." I smirked. "It will teach them some discipline. That nothing is easy."
Mitsuri laughed before she tapped her chin thoughtfully, "hey, (y/n)- Chan? How flexible are you?"
I shrugged after a moment, "very?"
"How about a challenge then? If you can match every pose I do, then you can stay the night here and move onto Iguro- San's place tomorrow morning!" She said, a twinkle in her eye.
"Eh, okay. Why not?" I shot her a sideways grin. "And no, before you ask. My flexibility has nothing to do with my bloodline."
She seemed sort of deflated for a moment before shaking it off and dropping down, doing the splits. I copied her with ease. She flipped into a backbend, and once more I copied her. She huffed and proceeded to bend her body in impossible ways before grinning, "ha! Bet you can't do this one!" She looked up to see me in the exact same pose, wearing a cocky smirk. "W..what?"
I untwisted myself and walked out of the room, "see ya, Mitsuri- Chan!" I felt accomplished. Not only did I complete her training in a few hours, but I'm nearly halfway through the training completely. I made my way back to the room I changed in, and changed back into my uniform, which was a huge comfort.
Kazumi fluttered into the window and nudged my hand lightly, "You have a message from Amane- Sama!"
My eyes widen in surprise as I slip him a treat from my pocket. "Okay, thanks."
"Kagaya's health is declining faster than anticipated. He's not taking any visitors." Kazumi cawwed softly. When I opened my mouth to protest, he cut me off. "Its a health precaution. It may cause him to deteriorate sooner than he should. But he sends his love to you and the rest of your family loves you very much. The children miss you dearly, and they pray for your well-being everyday."
I inhaled sharply and bowed my head, biting my bottom lip. "... Thank you, Kazumi. Please relay to them that I love them and that.. Everything's going to be okay.."
He nodded and rested his forehead on mine for a moment before flying off again.
As soon as he's gone, I wipe off my face and take a few deep breaths. "I can't stay here tonight.. I need to keep moving. The sooner I run into Sanemi or Inosuke, the better."
