"How much further do we have to go?! My feet are so tired!"

"Not much longer, I promise. We'll be at the inn in no more than 15 minutes."

"I hope you're right, Fig. We've been walking for way longer than we should have been."

"Hey, you can't blame me for that! We would have been there sooner if Riz didn't insist on checking out that rock."

"It was suspicious!" Riz yelled at the rest of the Bad Kids as they walked.

"Ok, let's just stop arguing. If Fig says we'll be there in a short while, let's just trust her. I can't take anymore fights today." Adaine replied to the goblin boy with a small sigh.

The Bad Kids were currently on summer break, heading towards an inn Fig had told them all about to stay at for a few nights.

"You guys are gonna love this place, trust me! Gilear and I used to come here all the time when I was younger. It was always awesome."

"You said it's nautical themed, right? Sounds like it's going to be right up my alley!" Fabian told the tiefling girl with a hearty chuckle.

"You have no idea, Seacaster!" Fig laughed as they kept moving down the path they were on.

As they traveled along, they all confirmed plans of what they were going to do on the trip. Some were going to find shops to go look at and others were going to spend time relaxing by the pool. Before too long of a time had passed, Fig stopped in her tracks and began to gasp happily!

"Hey, you guys! We're nearly there, it's just over this hill!"

"Finally! I've been dying to just sit back and relax with Tracker for a while." Kristen said as she held her girlfriend's hand.

"Well, then you're in luck because here it is!" Fig shrieked with a flourish of her arms. Everyone scrambled to the top of the hill to be met with a plain with a large lake on it.

"Uh, Fig? There's nothing here but water and grass. No inn to be seen." Fabian said to Fig while pointing at the big expanse of land.

"Au contrare, my piratey friend! Observe." Fig replied before crouching down to the ground. She picked up a stone from the dirt and examined it for a moment before she chucked it into the lake.

The water rippled for a few seconds as the group sat in anxious silence, waiting for some kind of result. When the ripples stopped and nothing had happened, they all looked at the horned girl with befuddled looks on their faces.

"Uh, I don't think anything is happening." Gorgug called out after a while of quiet.

"Just give it a second, dude. You are all so impatient."

"Says the girl who has no impulse control."

"Oh, shut the hell up! If you don't pay attention, you're gonna miss it!"

"Miss what?" Fabian questioned before the party heard sounds coming from the lake again.

"This!" Fig whispered excitedly as the Bad Kids all turned to see ripples appear once more. The tiny signal circles of movement eventually grew into small waves and finally to a large splash as the top half of a figure popped out of the water. Fig laughed happily as she ran over to the edge of the lake and called out to the unknown person.

"(Y/n), Over here!" Fig yelled as the stranger looked around. They smiled widely before diving back under the water and quickly popping back up in front of Fig. The two gave each other hugs before Fig waved over the rest of the Bad Kids.

"Guys, I want to introduce you to (Y/n) (L/n)! She's one of my best friends and her and her family run the Marlowe Bay Inn! (Y/n), these are The Bad Kids!"

"Hi, guys! Fig's told me all about you guys and your party! It's great to finally meet you." Declared the girl as she stuck out her hand as a greeting.

"It's nice to meet you too, but can I ask why you're in the water?" Fabian remarked as he shook (Y/n)'s hand.

"Should I show them,Figgy?"

"Oh, hell yeah, girl!"

"Alrighty then! I'm gonna need you guys to stand back a little bit. I wouldn't want you to get splashed!" (Y/n) noted before slipping back underneath the water.

"Oh, you guys are gonna enjoy this!" Fig laughed as the party backed a few steps away from the border of the lake. A few seconds passed before (Y/n) swam back up from a short distance away and shouted back to the group.

"Are you guys ready?!"

The Bad Kids all cheered in encouragement as (Y/n) sank downward and reappeared a second later in the air. The party gasped in awe as they all saw that she had a shining blue teal tail in place of her legs.

(Y/n) dove into to the water once again before swimming back over to the others. She dragged herself into the sand, wringing water out of her hair as everyone dashed to meet her.

"I can't believe you're a mermaid! It's gotta be so much fun to swim around all day like that!" Kristen cheered as she high fived the half-fish girl.

"It is super fun! If I'm not helping my parents run the inn, I'm out looking for loot that any fisherman might have dropped in the deeper parts of the lake. I'm quite the treasure hunter if I do say so myself!"

"I didn't know that (N/n)! It just so happens that Fabian here is a pirate! You should have seen him during spring break, it was amazing!"

"Really?! What kind of treasure have you found?!"

"Well, I'm not really the pirate of my family, that title belongs to my deceased father and my mother. I am the captain of our school football team though." Fabian shrugged with an embarrassed look on his face.

"That's still really cool! Maybe while you guys are staying here, I can show you my stuff that I've found."

"I'd like that. Thank you very much."

"No problem! I should probably get you guys to the inn now, huh? You all must be pretty tired."

"You have no clue. I can't wait to get there." Riz replied as he stretched his arms.

"I can't wait to show you all around. I'll tell my parents that you guys are here. Gimme one minute and I'll be right back." (Y/n) asked of Fabian, Fig and the others as she fell backwards into the lake.

The Party went into their own conversations for a moment as they all waited for (Y/n) to return. As they all waited, the ground began to rumble. The Bad Kids all looked to a lake to see it start to split apart. Water spilled off the sides as long planks of wood pushed the blue expanse apart.

"Whoa, what is happening?!" Riz asked as the wood beams surrounding the opening began to creak to a stop. When the planks had finally halted, the kids peered over the edge to see a beautiful river surrounded by small waterfalls.

"Look over there!" Adaine remarked as she pointed to a figure in the distance. The rest of the group glanced to where her finger was aimed to see a familiar flash of blue.

"Welcome to Marlowe Bay, everyone! Come on down here!" (Y/n) screamed loudly as a hidden staircase uncovered itself from the wall of the empty lake. The Bad Kids looked at each other in awe before Fabian began to walk down.

"Let's go, guys!" Fabian encouraged as he led the rest of the teenagers down the cliffside.
