Redemption

Part 01

It's a lantern festival, a Chinese festival celebrated on the first day of the first month in the Lunar calendar.  Usually the lantern can symbolize the people letting go of their past selves and getting a new ones, which they will let go of the next year.  In the early days, young people were chaperoned in the streets in hopes on finding love.  Matchmakers acted busily in hopes of pairing couples.  The brightest lantern was symbolic of good luck and hope.

Zhao Yunlan, a man who still believes in a mythology certainly never missed a festival lantern every year.  He always flew lanterns while praying and also hoping.  The prayers and hopes that he says every year are the same.  He only hoped that he could die and he also hoped to meet with his true love again.

Zhao Yunlan's prayers and hopes are indeed different from others in general.  Not because Zhao Yunlan was an unngrateful person but Zhao Yunlan already felt tired to live in this world. He does not know how long he must receive this punishment, and who knows how long he must wait.  When at the festival lantern, young people usually hope to find their love, not for Zhao Yunlan.  Because for Zhao Yunlan he only loved one person and he would love only once.  He will not love others, for that he always waits, until finally his true love returns.

Well, maybe when you see Zhao Yunlan, you think that Zhao Yunlan is an ordinary man who is around 35 years old with a proportional body and classy appearance.  In fact, Zhao Yunlan has lived for 2000 years and he hasn't died.  Not without reason, Zhao Yunlan was indeed not an ordinary human.

2000 years ago Zhao Yunlan was known as Bai Qi, a war general from Dark Castle, a place where no one dared to visit.  Dark Castle is surrounded by haunted dark forests.  No one ever entered the forest and then returned in one piece.  That place was isolated.  One day their king Wen Rounan wanted to rule the whole land, he sent Bai Qi to attack every other kingdom.

Bai Qi did a good job of destroying 3 kingdoms and killing more than one hundred thousand people.  Bai Qi was known as a heartless devil.  He did not hesitate to kill anyone who was in front of him.  Bai Qi is a terrible weapon possessed by Dark Castle.  No one had ever seen Bai Qi's face because he always wore a mask and was always dressed completely in black, complete with his black robe.

The surviving kingdom united to fight the Bai Qi army.  They knew that Bai Qi and his army would not die with a normal sword or arrow.  Bai Qi's body can heal on its own in a few seconds after he is stabbed with a sword or arrow.  Of course because Bai Qi is a devil.  Those who survived the from Bai Qi managed to find Bai Qi's weakness.  Until finally they began to fight Bai Qi and managed to repel the Bai Qi army.

One day a king named Hua Zheng Bao led an army to attack Dark Castle.  After more than two years of war they finally succeeded in destroying Dark Castle and succeeded in killing Wen Ruonan. While Bai Qi managed to escape and hide in the forest.

After Dark Castle was destroyed, Bai Qi spent his time in the forest and lived alone, until one day Hua Zheng Bao's army managed to find Bai Qi's hiding place.  They began to hunt down Bai Qi.  When Bai Qi was running away, he met a man who was younger than Bai Qi.  The man named Wuxie.

Wuxie never knew who Bai Qi was before, but he helped Bai Qi hide because at that time Bai Qi was also injured.  Wuxie sincerely helped Bai Qi.  He believes that Bai Qi is actually a good person and not a devil like what others say.  Wuxie was the only person who had seen Bai Qi's face without a mask.  And Wuxie was also the only one who helped Bai Qi to change.

Their relationship was originally a friend, but Bai Qi's feelings change over time.  Bai Qi is very obsessed with Wuxie who has succeeded in making Bai Qi a good person.  Wuxie was the first person Bai Qi loved, and became Bai Qi's last love too.
