Cringe - Matt Maeson
-Lily POV-
I opened up the envelope one last time, just to make sure.
Lily Evans,
You have been chosen for Head Girl this year at Hogwarts. You will complete the majority of your Head Girl tasks with the Head Boy.
On the train, you are required to go to the the Prefects compartment and inform the prefects of the duties they will have over the year. Inform them of their patrol schedules, and assign the job of patrolling the train to a pair of prefects.
You and the Head Boy will meet Professor McGonagall outside of the Great Hall after the feast. She will show you the Head Dorms, and inform you of anything you would like to know. And if you ever have any questions, feel free to come to me or another professor. If ever I have any specific/special duties for you and/or the Head Boy, I will be sure to alert you.
Sincerely,
Professor Dumbledore.PS. I tend to think that Acid Pops are a very delectable treat, don't you?
I don't exactly know what that last part meant, but I'd figure it out.
But Holy Hippogriffs! I'm Head Girl!
7th year is going to be my best yet. It'll be great.
I mean, mostly great, I suppose. I'll have to be as vile to Sev- Snape as I could. I'd tried to forgive him, but... he just couldn't seem to decide between me or the Death Eater Crew. And he had a problem with muggleborns, which was definitely an issue.
But I shouldn't spend my time worrying about him. I have an awesome group of mates that I can always count on, even if they're gits sometimes. Marlene, Alice, and Mary. Merlin, I missed them. I had only seen Marlene once over the summer, and that was like, a month ago! And I hadn't seen Alice or Mary since the end of sixth year!
Well... I suppose I should include the Marauders in my list of mates, because my friend group and theirs has seemed to be getting closer; hanging out with each other quite a lot. I don't mind the lot of them as much as I used to, actually.
I check my trunk to make sure nothing is missing, and carry it and my owl down the stairs. Mum and dad drive me to Kings Cross early; I want to get a good compartment for my friends and I, and prepare a bit for the Head and prefects meeting. And, of course, Petunia did not want to accompany us; she wouldn't want anything to do my freak school, now would she?
Really, my biggest worry was of the identity of the Head Boy this year. I want to be able to get along with him, and not be enemies.
I really hope it isn't Snape, or any of his other friends. I don't know what I'd do if I had to share a dorm with any of them.
I'm quite sure it won't be one of them, though, because why would Dumbledore choose them when he could choose Remus? Yes, I'm fairly confident that it'll be Remus Lupin as Head Boy, and that would be lovely.
If not him, then it'd be Amos Diggory, which I suppose I could deal with.
I got out of the car at Kings Cross, bid my parents farewell, and ran through the wall to platform 9 3/4.
I took a deep breath. Back to the wizarding world. It felt good.
-James POV-
When I had gotten my Hogwarts letter with the Head Boy badge in it, I had not believed it. No Marauder should ever become Head Boy! (Except Remus).
When I told everyone, there were... let's just say... mixed emotions. Sirius just burst out laughing; he thought it was a joke. When I showed him the badge, he went silent and then laughed even harder. Mum went all... mum on me, and was 'so proud of the boy I'd become, and I've grown up so much!'. My dad was just like 'congrats, son' and all that, and then proceeded to join in giggling with Sirius. Remus was there due to the full moon, of course, and just kind of sat there with raised eyebrows—came as a shock to all of us, Rem, don't worry. Then he congratulated me. I had apologized—because obviously Remus should've been chosen rather than me—but Remus had just brushed me off and said that he didn't want to be Head anyways, because of his furry little problem.
"Boys! It's almost time to go! You said your wanted to get there early for some reason, so just get your trunks and get down here!" Mum yelled up the stairs at us, popping my thought bubble.
"Augh! Why do we gotta go early?" Sirius whines.
Hey, I'm normally not a morning person either, but if we're early, I'll be able to catch Lily, and surprise her about my being Head Boy.
Speaking of Lily, that was one of the good things about being Head; because she's obviously Head Girl. And if she's Head Girl, we can become closer, and maybe she'll even consider being friends with me, at the very least.
Mum takes us to Kings Cross after I say goodbye to my dad, and we arrive . I hug and kiss my mum goodbye, Sirius hugs and kisses her, and we run through the wall and arrive at platform 9 3/4. There's barely anyone there, and I try to search the small crowd for a certain redhead, but before I see her, I hear someone calling me.
"Jamesie!" Rachel yells. Eloise is not far behind, towing her trunk.
"Rachel! Eloise!" I say, running up to them, and picking up Rachel and spinning her around. When I put her down I hug Eloise. "Are you ready for Hogwarts, El?"
"Oh, I've been ready since I left last year," Eloise answered. "I can't wait to see my friends, the little bi—birdies only visited me twice! And now that I've quit Divination, I have Muggle Studies, so that'll be fun!"
"He—ck yeah!" I reply, both of us censoring our language for Rachel. She fist bumps me.
"I'll miss you over the school year, Rach. Remember to owl me," I tell her.
"I'll send a howler," Rachel says proudly, with a smirk.
"Haha, whatever you wanna do," I say, smiling down at her.
"I'm going to find a compartment to save for my friends, okay? I'll see you guys over the holidays," Eloise says, giving Rachel a hug. She runs off, levitating her trunk.
I hug Rachel, and tell her I'll miss her, and then head for the train.
I see Lily; she's struggling with lifting her trunk onto the train. She could just levitate it, or I could, but I'd rather impress her with my strength. I smirk.
"Lilypad!" I yell. "Need any help?"
