SINIK

I had been traveling for days on end. Searching for the finder only to come up empty. My patience was nearing its end. Every person i encountered who could recall seeeing him, had sent me to a location that had long been vacant.

I had  barely ate or slept in many days. My worry and eagernesss to find  Ayla wouldnt allow it. However now i was feeling its bitter effects. I was tired, sluggish and my mind was fighting to  stay awake

An inn nearby suddenly caught my eye. Reluctantly i trudged toward it. I would eat a quick meal take a small nap and then get back to it

The inn was surprisingly busier than I expected for midday. the patrons were rowdy and already heavily intoxicated. I looked around at the depilated structure, noting the dirty tables and hay strewn floors

I knew i was in a less privileged part of the kindgom still i expected a little more cleanliness. However I could afford to be picky or snobbish about my surroundings. After all when i was a young boy we lived just as these people did, Before my father beat out all the pompous fae nobles for the title of commander and our family finally  rose to great heights

A corner table obscured in the back caught my eye. I walked ahead to the elderly woman that worked behind a large table.

"I require a meal and a room" i stated

She turned and looked me over, no doubt she could see just by my clothing and  maybe even my manner of speaking i was of much higher rank than the fae meandering around here

She said nothing of it though.  only filled a bowl full of some kind of stew. Whatever It was  smelled delicious to my empty stomach

I watched as she sliced a hearty piece of bread to accompany it,  i was more than certain that had i been a lesser fae man, that slice of breads would have been far smaller but said nothing on it

She laid it on the table before me

I reached to pull out my coins but she stopped me

"Its on the house commander. Room 20"

I hid my shock that she knew who i was.  Most non noble fae did not keep up with who was who in the higher ranks.  Too busy going about their arduous chores and focusing on the daily struggles of surviving and living

"No need"  i said to her dropping a bag full of coins before i took up my meal and retreated to that secluded table

I ate quickly watching disinterestedly as the other customers fought and argued; yelled and behaved like senseless vagabonds

A young woman sautered over to me carrying a mug of something. She was one of the many waitresses i observed serving  the raucious patrons

She set it down in front of me wearing a lewd smile

"Mistress says its on the house"

I nodded going back to my meal dismissively. Unfortunately she didn't take the hint

"I hear your our commander"

I glanced at her noting her teal colored hair and eyes. She was undeniably pretty and noticeably quite young. Having such a shade of hair; almost resembling the azure that only the royal family possessed must had garnered her much attention.  I wondered what purpose she would have to work in such an unsavory place

Surly she could get a manof high rank to fall for her; take her out of this impoverish living

"Yes" i said simply stuffing my mouth full of the warm bread

She smiled again

"Why would  our commander be in a place like this?"

"I am searching for someone"

"Ooo are you on a mission, like for the king?" she asked excitedly with a giggle

I ignored her immature antics instead seeking the information i needed

"Do you know of the finder?"

"The finder?" She gasped then i watched as  her face scrunched in thought

"Yes! a man who came here just the other day spoke of him."

Immediately she became far more interesting to me. Her words however  gave me pause. A man was looking for him. That likely meant Nax's people knew of what I was after. they were searching to silence the finder before I could find him.

"Did he say he knew his location?" I asked eagerly

She smiled that lecherous grin again

"Perhaps. what shall i receive for the information?"

I pulled out the remaining coins i still had. I would spend them all.  whatever it took to find him so i could find my Ayla

She placed her slim hand on my own

"It is not coin i seek commander"

I tensed

"Than what is you seek woman?" I growled impatiently

Her hand moved to stroke my arm, then my chest;  a suggestive glint in her eye

"A night perhaps. I have heard extraordinary tales of your.... prowess"

I looked at her wondering how far i was willing to go for the information to find Ayla. I could  bed this  woman and think little of it, but that was before i decided i wanted Ayla  as my woman.

Just then Her beautiful face  swam into my mind. Her mass of dark curls framing her delicate face and her golden hued eyes. my heart skipped a beat as i remembered her smile, the feel of her touch the day we danced just before she was taken

Intense emotion slammed into me and shrugged her hand off me angrily

There was only one women i desired and even in my desperation to find her i wouldn't give anyone else the one thing that was meant for only her. My body

"Take the coin or be gone"  i growled tossing the bag on the table before her

The woman's eyes widened with fear as she adverted them ot the ground; her cheeks coloring in embarrassment

"I...I'm sorry commander" she snatched the bag and cleared her throat

"He said he heard of him living in the Grezi forest area. But he was rather inebriated,  i wouldn't know how reliable his words were" she said then she got up and disappeared into the crowd of guests

As she left I contemplated what she revealed. i knew exactly where the Grezi forest was.  It held special meaning for me. It was where me and my father would train together. Where we hunted most of our daily meals.

I stood and retreated upstairs to the room i was given. As i slumped onto the uncomfortable lumpy bed. I thought of Ayla once again. I thought of things i hadn't since my doomed affair with Myla. I wanted  Ayla and even her son Taylen. Protect them,  cherish them as they should be. To have  A family of my own finally.

I would take her to my vast estate that I had meticulously  built for the woman whom i would bond with. Funny i always assumed she would be fae. Ayla wasn't a full fae but she would be the one i would bring there to live and together we would build a life that others would be envious of. that others would covet and aspire to

I grinned at that

"I'm coming Ayla hold on"  I whispered to no one as sleep quickly  consumed my weary mind.........................................
