(And here is chapter two. This is much more quick paced haha. Anyway, enjoy!~)
---(Y/n)'s Pov---
Both Frisk and I have been staying with Toriel for only a couple hours... but my best friend was already starting to grow anxious. They obviously wanted to leave with me, even though I was still limping from my wound.
"Come on, (Y/n)." They called as I got up from the bed that I was laying on. The healing magic from their 'mom' allowed me to regain my lack of perception from the sedative that I was shot with... so I was thankful for that.
Unfortunately, the bullet wound had the ability to quell my magical abilities, while also suppressing the medical treatment that it was receiving. Despite this, Toriel found joy in mentioning the beauty of my Soul... though Frisk only became a little on edge once she saw it.
They told me that Monsters in the Underground wanted our Souls to destroy the barrier... so I did the only thing that my kindness would allow me to do, and stated that they could have mine. I was already tainted by the scientists that tested on me, hurt by them beyond comprehension. Even if we did manage to break the barrier, they would stop at nothing to regain their 'test subjects'.
Frisk knew this, but tried to evade the potential concept of their capture by telling me that they could defend themselves. While I knew them on the surface, they couldn't even hurt a fly let alone defend themselves. I usually took on the tougher tests for them, causing not only my Soul to crack from the abuse, but even my own skin to be scarred.
Thankfully, Toriel supplied me with newer clothing than the ones that I wore in the laboratory. "We need to go. I need to get you out of the Underground."
Frisk seemed very impatient to return me to the surface, causing me to flinch slightly towards the mention of it. I did not want anything to do with that, even the scientists thought that I was dead. For now, because they did not seem to be letting up with that determination of theirs... I decided to comply with their frequent demanding.
Following behind them into the living room, we could see Toriel sitting in her comfortable chair with a book in hand. "Oh, hello my children. Would you both like to hear a fact about SOUL mates?"
Frisk seemed to raise a curious eyebrow, as if they were not expecting her to be reading that book. Once they offered an unsure nod, the goat mother giggled slightly. "I took this book out after thinking about the captivating beauty of (Y/n)'s Soul. Such kindness... you could almost mistaken her for one of us. Anyway! One of the facts..."
She paused before adjusting her glasses for a moment, and then started to read. "Fact 12. Did you know that the mated pair can sense overwhelming emotions between each other? Usually, this only happens in close proximity unless one of their SOULS are crying out for help. It is said that if something like that were to happen to the female of the relationship, then the dominant male must be evaded at all costs."
"Wait... Monsters have Soulmates?" Frisk suddenly asked with confusion. Toriel smiled softly before nodding her head.
"Yes, but they are very rare. Actually, only one monster is guaranteed to find their significant other in the span of a century... if they manage to last that long."
"I thought that Monsters could live longer than Humans?" Frisk continued, causing Toriel to look down with sadness.
"Yes, well... unfortunately, a Monster's SOUL will eventually die out without the presence of their Soulmate. Their opposite completes them. Would you like to hear another fact?"
