CORBYN? are you kidding me right now? i thought i would never have to see him again!

"it's been so long! i missed you, we should totally catch up sometime" corbyn said in a friendly manner. my eyes were still wide as saucers, and jaw to the floor.

after staring at him for a while, i finally mustered up the courage to say something. "there isn't anything to talk about, corbyn" i said, coldly. "thanks for helping me up, i'm heading home now."

"so that's it? you're just going to leave?" he said. "well what else is there for me to do? i made it VERY clear a few years ago that i never wanted to see you again, and that still stands." i began to walk away but felt him tug my arm and pull me back.

"let me go!" i began to squirm in attempt to slip out of his grip. he spun me around until i was facing him, landing straight into his arms. i opened my eyes, which we screwed shut, and looked up.

damnit, he's hot.

"miranda you just don't understand, i didn't cheat on you. you know i wouldn't ever do something like that! i loved you. so much." he said, which caused me to look everywhere else but his eyes.

i finally broke out of his grip and backed away. "i walked in on you kissing my best friend! what do you MEAN you would never cheat on me?" i said, raising my voice.

"but you never gave me the chance to explain! it was all a huge misunderstanding!" corbyn yelled.

i could feel my throat beginning to close up and tears forming in my eyes as the memories from that night began to flood back.

** july 9th, junior year **

i giggled over the phone. "don't worry about me corbyn! i'll be at the party in a few."

"are you sure you're going to make it there safe? i can wait for you to finish doing your makeup and everything, you know i wouldn't mind that." corbyn rambled. "i'll be fine. just head over there and have fun!"

corbyn finally caved in. "alright, but promise me you'll come find me the moment you arrive?" "i promise."

we said our goodbyes and hung up the phone, as i finished up my highlight and got up to leave the house.
———
i had been at this party for over 15 minutes, and still hadn't seen corbyn anywhere. i began to worry a bit since he wouldn't reply to my messages or answer my calls. i began to push around some people who were obviously drunk in an attempt to find him.

"excuse me, sorry, coming through!" i said, trying to squeeze my way to the second floor of the house.

once i got up there, i made my way to one of the rooms so i could soak in a bit of solitude before going back out there to find my boyfriend.

however, what happened was the exact opposite.

the moment i opened the door, i found corbyn alright, but not how i expected to. he was kissing all up on my best friend's neck while pressing her against the wall. "what the fuck?!" i yelled out, clearly startling the both of them.

corbyn jumped back, immediately pushing the girl to the side and making direct eye contact with me. by then, i already had giant tears rolling down my face. "are you serious? you're cheating on me?" i screamed. "wait miranda you don't understand-" "no, i understand very clearly. goodbye corbyn."

i walked out of the party and into my car, driving to god knows where. all i knew is that i wanted to be away from corbyn, away from my best friend, away from everyone.

i needed to be alone.

"miranda is everything alright?" corbyn said, walking over to me. i had tears falling off of my face and didn't even realize it. "why do YOU care?! it's your fault that i've been this way!" i screamed at him

corbyn immediately backed away and lowered his head. we stood there in silence for a few moments before he began to speak again.

"i'm sorry, miranda, i really am. i promise you i've changed, i'm not the same guy that you knew back in high school. please, just give me a chance to prove it!" corbyn pleaded.

"every other guy i've met has said the same thing, yet they were the same person that they were when i first left them. how could you be any different?" i said, my voice cracking.

suddenly, a loud rumble was heard coming from the sky above. moments later, it was raining. great.

"and now i'm soaking wet because of you, thanks a lot!" i began to walk away again, but i felt corbyn grab my arm once again. "goddamnit what do you want this time?"

"take this" corbyn said, handing me the jacket he was currently wearing. "i don't want you to walk out in the rain cold. you could get sick." he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and gave me one last look before walking away.

"but what if YOU catch a cold?" i asked him. he laughed and turned around partially. "i'll be fine, your health is more important. goodnight miranda."

i couldn't help but blush a bit, that was really sweet of him to look out for me like that. plus, his jacket was cozy!

i made my way home in the pitch darkness, my mind racing as i bit my lip and played with my fingers.

should i actually meet up and talk to him?
