What went wrong?

Kokichi's POV

Ding Dong Bing Bong~

Gonta and I shot our heads up at the noise, waiting for an announcement that usually came after the bell. Nothing.
That's weird?
"Hey Gonta... Maybe we should go to the gym.. just in case?"
Gonta nodded.
"Goodbye friends!" Gonta said as he let some grasshoppers out of his hands go.
Both of us stood up and walked towards the building.
I wonder what Shumai will be like... will he be like before?
Flashbacks entered my head and I shuddered.
Do I even want Shumai to change..?

"Is Kokichi okay? Gonta saw Kokichi shake!"
I look up to catch Gonta's worried eyes.
"I'm okay Gonta! Just thinking.."
"Gonta think Kokichi wants a piggy back ride!"
I watched as Gonta got to his knees and signaled Kokichi to get on his shoulders.
"Ah.. why not?"

I climb up Gonta's back, and sat on his shoulders with a bit of his help.
"Is Kokichi comfortable?"
Gonta stood up and I felt like a skyscraper.
"Amazing!"
We walked towards the gym, seeing some others on the way.
They all gave us a confused look, but who cares. I feel so tall!

And finally
We reached the gym.
We slowly opened the door, with some others at our side and we entered the gym.
Now everyone was here, but no Monokuma and no announcement.

Was it a false alarm? Did something bad happen?
We all waited.

One minute..
Two minutes...

Neither Monokuma nor Shuichi has shown up. Was it a false alarm?
Let's just wait a little longer just Incase...

Five minutes.....
Ten minutes.......

And then a total of 20 minutes.
By now everyone was chatting confused, wondering what could've possibly happened.
"Gonta.. what do you think is happening?"
I felt him shift under me
"Gonta has no idea... Gonta worries if something happened to Shuichi."
I sigh and reply 'me too'.

I watch everyone talk.
Do you blame me? There's nothing else to do.
Chatter filled the room, until we heard a bang.

Everyone shot up their heads and looked forward.
Shuichi stood there, A weird looking hammer in his hand and a bag hanging on his shoulder, and he was sweating profusely.

"..Shumai..?" I called out.
I watched as Shuichi quickly looked around and behind him.
"Everyone run out of the gym, we are leaving. Get to the underground passage, now!"

Everyone looked shocked. But we all understood. We all ran, just as Shuichi said.
But I still sat on Gonta's shoulders, thoughts going through my head like crazy.
Was Shumai's memories not brought back? So was he still the old Shumai? Or did he get his memories back?

I looked behind me and saw no one.
Where is Shumai even at right now...
We reached to the basement, and filed through the door.
We entered a green room, but didn't take too long to look around as we bolted for the Underground Passage.

We made it.
But there was one problem.
Everyone stood there, not knowing what to do.
Shuichi wasn't even here... and we followed his orders without any second thought.

Everyone started chatting again but I heard a specific voice over everyone else's.

"He has my fuckin hammer! I swear! How did that little cock get it?!"
Everyone looked over to Miu.
"Your hammer..?"

"He has my fuckin hammer.. I made some Electro-hammers! They disable electronic devices and that little cock took them! How could he even have gotten them?"

"Ah, Monokuma had them and I overheard one of the Monokubs say what they were for. I took them and ran."

Everyone whipped their heads to the side.
There Shuichi stood. He had an electro hammer swung over his shoulder, his detective shirt unbuttoned to reveal his undershirt hugging onto his skin. He seemed out of breath but still hanging on.

"I need a few people to take these. We are getting out of here."
Everyone watched as Shuichi pulled more hammers out of his bag.

"Well? Don't just stand there, take them!"
Shuichi sounded more aggressive and commanding. Everyone noticed.
But, not like he was before.

What happened to him?
Did he get his memories back or did something go wrong?
