Chapter 9: Am I Really Just Confused?

The person behind the door hissed and stomped his foot as he repeated the same actions earlier.

"Sonic! Sonic!" said the deep voice behind the door

Sonic groaned and muttered things as he didn't move even the slightest. The person continued to knock raising Sonic's annoyance. Sonic cursed under his breath, his eyes still closed, and he buried his face on the bed as he covered his ears with his pillow.

"Fucking hell. Is this even open?" said the person, still stomping his foot showing the sign of impatience

Sonic heard the door clicked. The person muttered things. Only one thing was clear for Sonic, the person was confused and shocked. But Sonic didn't payed attention to it and continued back to sleep.

"Wake up sleepy head!" Shadow shouted as he purposely jumped right beside Sonic

He only earned a groan from the azure hedgehog. Shadow grinned in satisfaction.

But as soon as he grinned, his facial expression returned back to annoyed and in disbelief. Sonic turned his back and snored loudly.

"Hey, it's almost eleven! Good thing we have this long day off" Shadow muttered the last part as he sighed

"Don't tell me you really binged that anime?!" Shadow looked a bit concerned

Again, he didn't receive any response from Sonic rather than his intentional loud snoring. Shadow's brow twitched.

"Oh, so you wanna play huh?"

Sonic felt there was a smirk base on the tone he use. He also find the tone very mischievous. Being stubborn as he is, he didn't care nonetheless. He only stopped his snoring, curious to find what Shadow will do.

Suddenly, Shadow violently poked his sides making Sonic jolt from his bed. Shadow's grinned widened. Sonic was on the wall, catching his breath as Shadow tickled him. Sonic was making weird noises, making Shadow laughed even more.

"Sto- Ah! Stop it Shadow! I- i-!" Sonic grinned with his eyes closed as he tried to complete his sentence

He tried to capture Shadow's skillful hands. But the ebony hedgehog was stronger.

"I-i-! I'm so-sorry!" Sonic managed to blurt it out

Shadow's grin never left as he let go off the hedgehog. Sonic panted as he wiped his sweats. He sighed in relief as he looked at Shadow.

"Fuck you" Sonic playfully snarled as he rolled his eyes, turning away from the hedgehog

Instead of cursing back, Shadow just snickered as he changed his tone of voice.

"Do it" Shadow taunted

Sonic stopped for a split second before realizing what his friend meant. He quickly turned red as he also laughed.

"Where's Silver?" asked Sonic

"He's on the market buying lunch. We were supposed to go with Silver, until some stubborn hedgehog won't wake up and when I tried to, the damn child insisted and got back to sleep. But he received his punishment right away" said Shadow as he glanced at the door and then back at Sonic

"Whatever" Sonic smiled

"But hey, sorry. What happened lately was intentional and unintentional" Sonic tried to apologize

"Nah. We're good" Shadow gave him a thumbs up

Sonic chuckled as he grabbed Shadow's hand and took a hold of it. Shadow laid into the bed as they both looked at the ceiling. They remained holding each other's hand. They didn't mind, but Sonic felt the same feeling again.

Butterflies on his stomach, his heart racing, and his mind told him a lot of things leaving him confused. Neither himself can understand his own.

"Ah. Our father is so kind to give us a one week vacation. Good thing we have finished our work though" Shadow broke the silence, snapping Sonic out of his thoughts

"Father?" Sonic raised his brow

Shadow rolled his eyes and stared at Sonic with his famous apathetic look.

"Wha-"

"Our manager!" Shadow raised his hands on the air, letting go of Sonic's hand

There was a slight sting on Sonic's chest when Shadow let go. But instead, he only stared back at the ebony hedgehog before replying.

"Oh- well, yeah" Sonic only nodded

Shadow only sighed in annoyance. He stood up before he closed the curtains. He was surprised to see Sonic's room clean. Not that it was always messy, but it always was unclean too.

"Hey, why didn't you lock your door?" Shadow raised a brow before putting his hands on his hips

"I didn't?"

"Oh my-! Of course, that's why I was asking" said Shadow as he got back sitting with Sonic

"Well, I forgot. I was too sleepy to even get up" Sonic looked at the closed door

Sonic laid back before looking at the wall clock. Shadow's phone vibrated from his pocket. He pulled out his phone and looked at the message.

"Lunch might take an hour or two. It's traffic, Silver said" Shadow slid his phone back on his pocket

"Eh, that's alright. I don't really feel that hungry anyway. But how about you?" Sonic turned back to the ebony hedgehog

"No. But I'm also concerned about Silver" Shadow shrugged

"Yeah. Maybe he's already hungry" Sonic sighed

Shadow shook his head before he lay down with Sonic. Both turned to each other and locked eyes.

"I held your hand" Sonic trailed off

"What?" Shadow said

It was now his turn to be confused.

"I did. Now that I'm thinking about it, why did I do that?"

"Is it because you love me?" Shadow snickered and grinned

"Wha-! No! Of course. I'm not bisexual you know!" Sonic quickly responded

"Whoa, whoa, why are you so defensive? Just asking. I mean, there's nothing wrong with being a bisexual, as long you're not doing anything bad" Shadow explained and smiled

"In your dreams Shadow" Sonic turned his back at his friend

"Hey, you were the first one to do it, and the first one to bring the topic up! And now you're getting angry" Shadow argued back

Sonic didn't answer. Why was he being so defensive anyway? Why did he bring the matter up? Why bother? It wasn't a big deal, right?

"Bisexual huh?" Sonic slowly asked

"Yeah, why? Are you?" Shadow calmly asked

Sonic didn't answer. This raised Shadow's curiosity

"Look, like I said, there's nothing wrong if being who you are. As long as you're a good person, then it's okay to be you. Our only problem our own judgmental society" Shadow scowled at the last sentence

Despite his violent reaction at the end, he still wonder so many things about his friend next to him. But he will be more happy if he opened up

"I didn't even know how our conversation got into this. I didn't even know why I even asked that" said Sonic

He turned into Shadow and sighed. He closed his eyes, letting himself drown in his own world of thoughts. Is something going wrong? Is something going to be a problem?

Wait- what?

Sonic mentally screamed at himself.

All of those butterflies on his stomach, the strange feeling when he's around his friend. This strange craving for affection and attention, is he really starting to like Shadow?
