Chapter 16: The Bad Boy and The Mad Genius

Their driver gave his license to the guard. Sonic was fast asleep ever since he just got inside the car. Shadow remained to be on his phone.

It is almost 2:30 PM as of now. It was a long way from that part of the city to where their house is located. At least the traffic wasn't that bad unlike what happened previously.

The car drove in the subdivision once he gave his license to the security guard.

Shadow lightly tapped the sleeping happy beside him. Sonic's head was on top of Shadow's shoulder.

"Hey Sonic. We're here. Get up" Shadow continuously poke him

Sonic muttered something as he gradually opened his eyes. His green eyes looking outside of the car's heavily tainted window.

He stretched himself and yawn. He fixed his quills and gets into his phone to check the time.

The car soon stopped. Sonic looked up and Shadow already had opened the door. They both got off, still carrying the gifts they had received. They said their goodbyes to the manager and their driver.

The driver only smiled while Mr. John gave them a brief nod. They waved at them even as the car started to drive away from them. They looked at the car from the distance. Once it got too far from them, both hedgehogs entered the house.

They were greeted by a smell of food. Sonic's eyes widened as he unconsciously sniffed through loudly. Enough for Shadow to give him a strange look with one of his brows raised.

But no one was in the living room. They also heard noises of someone going upstairs and voices of those who were talking into the kitchen.

"Are you going to your room or you're coming there?"

"I'll go check them out first"

Shadow only nodded as Sonic handed him the bag where the gifts are placed.

Sonic decided to walk into the kitchen while Shadow had gone into his room to change.

"He-" as soon as Sonic was about to enter the kitchen, he was pulled back by an invisible force that caused him to stumble and fall

Everyone in the kitchen laughed. All of it was fine until he heard a familiar voice he thought weren't even coming today.

"You still fell for the same thing twice. I remember doing that to you back in high school" the voice spoke

"What the?! Scourge?! Is that- wait. I-"

"Why are you so shocked to see me though? Can't remember but I know telling one of you we were coming"

"We? So you're with really with Mephiles, huh? We thought you guys were supposed to come yesterday. But didn't. So we thought you both didn't want to because you two were busy" Sonic explained as he stood up and looked at the scotch tape that was placed on the doorway

"Oh, so that's why" Sonic mumbled

Suddenly, they heard Shadow screamed from upstairs. Sonic looked at the others in panic and was about to go after him, but he was stopped by Scourge who soon ejected a snort.

"Don't worry. I'm sure it's the prank Mephiles set up for him"

"You guys really gave us a warm thanks after nicely welcoming you" said Sonic

"Yeah, I know. These guys were special. But you two are even more special," Scoutge smirked

"Anyway, where did you two had gone to? We came here early in the morning. I was very excited to see you both but you weren't the one who welcomed us. So disappointed" Scourge dramatically sighed, placing a hand on his chest acting to be hurt
