Chapter 14: Flirt

Sonic's eyes shot open as soon as he heard his alarm clock rang. He rolled his eyes, feeling his eyelids going heavy once again. He tried to reach for his alarm clock.

He lazily stretched his arms on its way, but it was no avail. It was unreachable in that position for him.

But the sound was unbearable. Sonic just wanted to get right back to sleep. He inched closer to the object and finally, he was able to turn it off.

When he faced his back on the door and covered himself with blankets, he was pulled back.

"It's kinda hot this morning. Covering yourself with blankets is weird and unnecessary. Besides, we've got to do something. It's time to wake up" a voice said

"Time to do something...?" He tiredly asked

He slowly sat up and rubbed his eyed before facing the source of the said voice.

It was Shadow.

He was wide awake. He was even dressed already, wearing the kind of attire when they are going to a-

"Fan meeting, yes. In case you've forgotten" Shadow sighed, sitting beside his buddy

His eyes widened again and looked back at Shadow.

"What the fuck?! It's Tuesday already?!" The azure hedgehog immediately stood up, walking to get into the shower

Shadow only watched his friend rushed inside. He looked at the window.

"Well, I think we still have time. It might take a few hours before our manager gets here to get us. I just wanted to get dressed already" he explained

"What? Our manager's the one who'll get us here? I thought we'll drive back to the company?" asked Sonic, turning the shower on

"We just talked about it a few minutes ago. He's on his way though. The reason why I also got up earlier. It will take more than an hour to get there" said Shadow

"I see" Sonic only mumbled

After he was done taking a bath, he got out. His body was wrapped in a towel while his quills were messy.

Shadow briefly looked at the hedgehog. Not wanting to be caught staring.

But, when he looked back, Sonic was the one staring at him.

"What?" the ebony hedgehog raised a brow at the other

"T-turn around. I'm going to get dre-dressed" said Sonic, blushing as he averted his gaze

This caught Shadow by surprise. His eyes widened as he felt his cheeks heat up too, but instead of showing embarrassment at the other, he managed to smirk.

"Turn around? Seriously? I mean, we've known each other for years. So it's not a big deal to see your-"

"Argh! Just hurry up, pervert"

Shadow merely turned around, still chuckling.

"Pervert, huh? So you're thinking differently. I only thought it's common to see each other's, well, you know what it is. But to address me with that name, you're one with a dirty mind" Shadow snorted

Sonic only huffed but didn't answer. Luckily, Shadow had his back turned. He's completely unable to see how Sonic became a blushing mess just by his mere accusations, which isn't even true.

Or is it?

"Are you done? I can't hear you move or something. You seem steady. But you could've just told me you were fini-"

"N-n-no! No! I-I'm still not done. I just spaced out" Sonic yelled then began to quickly pick his clothes from his closet

"Jeez, it's only the two of is here in this room. It's also quiet in the house. No need to yell" said Shadow

"You seem to talk a lot today, Shadow" Sonic rolled his eyes and began to dress himself

"I always talk a lot, don't I?" Shadow seemed confused, his eyes averting to his side, trying not to look back at the hedgehog

"I don't know. It's just you talk a lot today, it seems. I mean, I only say a short response and reply a tons of words" said Sonic, buttoning up his shirt and then fixing his quills

"Oh yeah, I think? But, can't you just show your appreciation? I use words to express my feelings, and that means there's just so many love I feel for you" Shadow bit his lip, trying not to snort loudly

"Like said, I only say short response. So that means I have less feelings for you? Even though I feel the same?" Sonic smirked as he spat back

"Okay, you can turn around now Shads"

When Shadow turned around, Sonic saw his lips were parted. He was raising a brow at Sonic and thoroughly seemed really confused.

Sonic stared at the hedgehog for a few seconds before bursting into laughting. Shadow seemed to have  snapped from his thoughts as he closed his lips and stood up.

"Dude, your reaction was truly priceless!" Sonic wheezed

"I... really never expected to get that kind of response from you" Shadow admitted as he also fixed his posture

"Be glad. At least I'm letting you know I feel the same" Sonic snorted

They heard someone from downstairs calling their names. They looked at each other before opening the door.

"Your manager's here. Are you all going somewhere?"

It was Rouge.

"Oh, uh, yeah. We never told you guys, huh. But don't worry, it's only a fan meeting. We are not occupied by anything else after this" said Sonic

"Okay. The others are still asleep, except for me and Tails. I will tell them later" said Rouge before they all walked downstairs

"Good morning, Miss Rouge! It's quite a pleasant surprise that you're the one I first see here"

"Oh, Mister John, no need for such formalities. Sorry for the bed hair though. Just woke up" Rouge awkwardly laugh, already feeling embarrassed

"That is alright. No need to worry. That happens to everyone anyway" the manager grinned

"Good morning, manager" The two hedgehogs greeted in unison

"Ah, glad to see you two are ready. Well, we will be on our way now Miss Rouge. The fan meeting won't really take that long. You still have a plenty of time to spend with each other"

"Good luck to you all then. Enjoy!" Rouge replied

She watched as the two hedgehogs entered the car. The car had now drove off.

Rouge sighed as she closed the door, bringing out the keys to lock the house.
