INTRODUCTION

Hey! My name is Juwariya Hassan. I know right! I have a normal name! I'm a bit weird as you can see. Very weird. Or just unique.

Most people don't pronounce my name correctly. You would hear some people call me Juju, juwaaaari or sometimes Juwariyatu.

I live with my family in Lagos, Nigeria. My family and I lived in Kaduna, which is in Northern Nigeria, before residing in Lagos which is in the Southeastern part of Nigeria.

I come from the Yoruba ethnic group of Nigeria. They are considered to be the largest ethnic group and the loudest, so I know where I got it from.

I speak two Nigerian languages which are Hausa and Yoruba.

I was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Hassan. I am the oldest of my parent's children. I have two younger siblings, Anwar and Kauthar. Anwar is a bit of a naughty boy. He likes to play pranks and of course, he likes to trouble his little sister Kauthar. Typical of brothers am I right?

Kauthar is the baby of the house. She loves me - her older sister - so much and looks up to me. She is a very cute little girl.

As you can tell already, I have issues. I can't stand people who racially discriminate or segregate others.

There was a time I stood up for a new Indian boy at my secondary school who was being mock by the other kids in school because he had a turban on.

Ever since then, I decided to pursue my career as a human rights lawyer/activist so I can stand up for people. However, as I grew older, I had a change of mind. I began to have a passion for journalism.

When I told my parents, my mom was very disappointed. In an African household, there are only five professional careers recognized. You either become a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer/architect or a disgrace (lol).

Thanks for reading. I need your feedback on this and I would love to hear your opinions (respectfully).
