Kou Minamoto frowned as silence engulfed the dining room where his older brother and himself are currently having breakfast. He kept stealing a few worried glances towards Teru, who is spacing out while poking the food in front of him with a fork.
There is definitely something off with Teru-nii today... it's not like him to keep spacing out like that... and what's with those dark eyebags?
"It's about time to leave for school, young masters."
Their household chauffeur's voice snapped Teru out of his daydream, and he quickly shoved some mouthfuls of food into his mouth before standing up from the chair and following the driver suit. Kou said nothing as he trailed behind his older brother, but the frown didn't leave his face.
I wonder if something happened between him and (y/n)...?
The uncomfortable silence remained until they arrived at school, even Teru didn't spare a glance at Kou when they split up to their own classes. Kou respected his brother's privacy, yes, but if this keeps going on until school dismissal, he's definitely going to talk with him.
——✧༺✧༻∞☆∞༺✧༻✧——
Teru Minamoto stared at the azure colored envelope on his hand, debating to himself whether he should really give this letter to the School Mystery No. 8.
Why did I even write this letter? If I give this to her, will it be a symbolization of our friendship?
Realizing that it is currently lunchtime, he shoved the letter into one of his pockets and got up from his seat, heading for the cafeteria where his little brother usually eats lunch with Nene Yashiro. He wanted to ask for Kou's opinion on this matter, because he is the one who first suggested the idea of good supernaturals.
"There is definitely something off about Teru-nii today... he keeps spacing out since morning, and he didn't even finish his breakfast!"
The first thing he heard when he entered the cafeteria was Kou's voice, seeing how he's seated on the nearest seat to the entrance door. Nene Yashiro is seated opposite his little brother, listening intently to Kou's rambling with a serious expression and slightly flushed cheeks.
Teru smiled at their interaction, and considered telling her about the letter for a brief moment before deciding that this matter should only be between him and his little brother. He is aware of Nene's connection with the Seventh School Mystery and that she could be trusted, but he doubts that she would know much about the Eighth School Mystery.
"Kou, can we talk for a moment?"
Nene froze on her seat as her eyes widened at the sight of her crush standing in front of her, while Kou turned around and stared at his brother with mixed emotions.
Did I make another mistake? Or did he find out about my connection with 'School Mystery No. 8'? Is he going to take me off the Seven Mysteries case?!
Teru chuckled softly at Kou's panicked reaction (it looks adorable in his eyes) as he ruffled his little brother's hair softly. "No, I'm not taking you off the Seven Mysteries case."
Kou followed Teru after apologizing to Nene for leaving her in the cafeteria alone, but she kept saying "No, it's fine!" with a flustered face which made him more guilty. Teru led his little brother to the student council room which happens to be empty at the moment and locked the door so that no one could enter.
"Kou," Teru started, "you told me before that there are such things as good supernaturals."
Kou was clearly taken aback at Teru's words, but he managed to reply. "Yeah... I did."
"Could you elaborate...?"
Kou tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean, Teru-nii?"
"For example... how did you know that the Seventh School Mystery is a good supernatural?"
"Uhm... I guess... stuff happened," Kou paused for a moment, as if searching for the right word to express his opinion. "And I decided that I wasn't going to exorcise him before I figure out for sure if he's a good guy or a bad guy."
Teru stayed silent, waiting for his little brother to continue.
"When I stopped to think about it... I realized that I don't know anything about him. So I thought it would be unfair to act based on my prejudice towards supernaturals when he hasn't done anything wrong. Oh, but if he's proven to be a bad guy, I'm gonna exorcise him right away!" Kou clenched his fists and punched the air as he said the last sentence, but then he realizes how weird it is for his older brother to ask such things about good supernaturals. "Why are you asking me this, Teru-nii? Didn't you say there are no such things as good supernaturals before?"
Teru sighed before pulling a certain mauve colored envelope out of his uniform pocket. "Because of this."
"'To : Kamome Academy Student Council President, Teru Minamoto.'?" Kou's eyes widened in surprise to see the mysterious looking handwriting on the front side of the envelope. "Who wrote this...?"
Teru folded his arms and leaned to the wall near to where he's standing. "School Mystery No. 8, apparently. She wanted me to be her... friend."
"School Mystery No. 8... wait, No. 8?!"
Kou definitely didn't see this coming. He snatched the letter from his older brother and read through it at the speed of light. Why did (y/n) give this letter to Teru-nii... when she could ask him directly about it?
"Have you written a reply letter, Teru-nii...?"
"I have. Here," Teru showed Kou the azure colored envelope and stared at it with a determined, piercing gaze. "And I'm planning to give it to her this afternoon myself."
Kou froze. He knows the meaning behind that look on Teru's eyes.
The determined, piercing gaze which means that his older brother is not going to leave until he sees (y/n)'s face.
